1) Because the Big 10 money is huge. It's already in place. The Big 10 Network is already in place. Everyone with common sense knew this Pac-16 was a pipe dream that had less chance of success than failure. The Big 10 was an easy decision financially speaking.
2) I honestly think Nebraska deep down knows they can't compete with Texas and OU. Nebraska can't go into Texas and get the top kids. It's too dang cold and far away from home for a kid who has offers from Texas and OU to spurn them for Nebraska. In the Big 10 they can go into those states and get kids and be competitive.
