The curse of coach Jeff Capel - Ha Ha = Duke

In the 12 seasons from 1990 to 2001 OU only won 4 NCAA games. In the last 6 years OU has won 4 NCAA games. There is no reason to feel despair. OU is an average program that occasionally lands a great player and makes a run. Nothing more, nothing less.

You seriously going to call a top 20 program average just to justify your support of a pathetic below average coach in Capel?

What do you call UCLA, A&M, Clemson football? Because that's the equivalent of OU basketball. I call them average programs that step up every decade or so.

Duke, UNLV and OU won a combined ZERO NCAA games this year. Pretty sad for Kruger and Capel's former and current teams.

OU was easily a top 20 program under Tubbs and Sampson. OU had a winning record against Arizona and Uconn during that stretch. OU had a winning record against UNLV during its peak.

Top 20 in basketball is the equivalent of top 10 or 5 in football. There are over 300 teams in basketball compared to just over 100 in football. Being in the top 20 in basketball means the top 6% of all teams.

I don't get why you support Capel so much. He did a bad job at OU and got fired for it.

He went all in last year with the 2-7 off suit and has to play the hand til the bitter end

I actually thought Capel deserved another year, in hindsight I was 100% wrong. I think we now have a Top 15 Coach for a Top 15 program. Capel did manage to get some talent in here, and I'll always enjoy that Elite Eight season, but in the aggregate he did a poor job.

Crazy to still see defenses of Jeff Capel.
