The Lakers this season... predictions?

PG: Jordan Clarkson (6'5'' 185) *All NBA Rookie First Team*
SG: Louis Williams (6'1'' 175) *6th Man of the Year*
SF: Kobe Bryant (6'6'' 212) *Hall of Fame Player*
PF: Julius Randle (6'9'' 250) *#7 overall pick, #2 player in nation in high school, 1st team All American at Kentucky*

Gotta wonder what Kobe can give em this year. Will his health hold up? I guess you also have to ask the same about Randle's health.

Not enough talent to expect very much, but any team with KB will play hard, or there will be major drama...... LOL
 
I expect D'Angelo to start over Lou.

Lakers will miss the playoffs, but may be entertaining later in the year as the young pups start to take over. Might be awful all year long again, though. For the first time in 3 seasons, there will be something worth watching at least.
 
Lakers are in rebuild mode. Record this year means nothing. Anything close to .500 would mean they are heading in the right direction and a player or two from being back in the hunt.

Spot on analysis!

I have been a Lakers fan since Jerry West was picked #2 overall in the 1960 NBA draft. I lived in West Virginia back then, fifteen miles or so from where "Zeke from Cabin Creek" grew up. My affection for the Lakers continued when they drafted Magic Johnson. I lived in Michigan at that time. I saw him play in high school and followed his career at Michigan State as well as in the pros. In other words, I have been a Laker fan longer than most of you have been alive. lol

The last two to three years have been painful for me. But, as much as I hate to admit it, I don't see that pain going away anytime soon. Kobe's age and the absence of playoff level talent likely means that fans like Jmizzy and me will continue to suffer through another disappointing season this year. Sure hope I'm wrong!

No doubt Ada. I know we both will always be purple and gold supporters no matter what the record. It would be nice though, to see them return to prominence sooner rather than later. Reminds me of the Nick Van Exel led teams who played hard, but were very bad... This is another transition period as that was life after Magic, and this will soon be life after Kobe.
 
I think they will be better than expected. Might fight for the 8th spot
 
That's possible bounce but a lot of things would have to go right. Kobe would need to stay healthy and play at the level he started last season before he wore down. Hibbert would need to reclaim his all star form of a couple years ago on defense. Lou Williams & Nick Young would need to gel and form an explosive second unit. Russell and Randle would need to perform at a rookie level comparable to what Clarkson did last season and he would need to take a step forward.

Not out of the question but quite a wish list. News came out yesterday that Gary Vitti is going to retire after this season. Another key loss for the organization. Nash & Kobe injuries probably wore him out.
 
I think they may win about 30 games. Maybe 35. A 10-15 game difference will be a solid year compared to last year. If Kobe has another year where he doesn't finish it could be a year where they may not hit 30 wins.

A successful season IMO would be going .500 (21-20) or better in the second half. Anything better is gravy.
 
One positive thing I will say, is that I have high expectations for Roy Hibbert in a contract year. I wouldn't say he's a sure thing to contribute, but he's as close as it gets on this team.
