The Ref in Clark's Face

You're right. I admit that. With that said, every time he had the ball in his hands last night, I was hollering "give it up"

Perhaps we also found the person screaming while we shot free throws?

No sir. Don't troll. Just making a minor critique. Cousins game has improved by leaps and bounds.

Troll? Glad you feel that way about Cousins and I agree.

Which part...the critique or the praise or both. Seemed like you were digging me for critiquing Cousins

You said you were hollering for him to give the ball up every time he touched it. That is much different than critiquing him.

If you were wondering who was screaming the whole game, she sat about 10 seats down from me. It was some stupid fat blonde girl that was also crying that we should have been called for 3 seconds in the lane when we were on defense. Typical fool

He didn't touch it in the backcourt very often, so I didn't holler it very often. Besides, I'm almost certain LK handled it in the first half since our bench was in our backcourt then. I waved LK off in the second half and told him I'd handle this half since our backcourt was at my end. Really seemed to work out too.

Coulda swore that was Travie's son.

Ok. So I have deduced that Jeff will not be reasonable when trying to be objective. Are you a liberal?

I watched the playback on TV and turned the volume way up. The ref seemed pretty calm when he first came in. Clark had his arms raised and when he turned, his elbow might have grazed cousins chin. Thats when the ref went off. He kept yelling "put your arms down." He said it like 4 or 5 times. After that I couldn't tell what he was saying.

That Vine video starts about 10 seconds late to show what actually happened.

Clark didn't shove anyone. Cousins' momentum going out of bounds is how he ended up in the photographers.

Clark was standing there as Cousins got up and then he (Cousins) shoved Clark. (It wasn't a big shove, but it was a shove.)

That's when Clark put his hands into the air and then the ref inexplicably started shouting at Clark.

This is funny. You are funny. I've never seen a ref shouting at a player in a college basketball game, and one does, but Clark is completely innocent and so this is "inexplicable." It couldn't be Clark for anything he did.

Please help me. Why did a ref "inexplicably" yell at Clark:
1. He wanted OU to win and Clark to quit trying so hard or he was going to have to call fouls to help OU win.
2. Clark's mother wanted him to get a message about smoking pot. She thought the ref might could get through to him if she shouted at him on national TV.
3. He wasn't shouting, he was singing the OSU fight song to encourage Clark. Singing often looks like shouting.
4. Clark's shoe laces were untied and he thought he had to shout to get his attention above the crowd. He didn't want Clark to get hurt.
5. Clark was actually "helping" Cousins get up and he told him to let his own team help him get up; this is a rivalry and he was not to show good sportsmanship again or he would T him up.

One thing we KNOW FOR SURE (just ask our OSU fan), it wasn't for anything legitimate that Clark was doing wrong.

It was much more than a grazing. I'm not saying it did damage, but that's the kind of move that can inspire retaliation and that's when things can get out of control. The official was right to be annoyed by Clark's "grazing."

OP.com was very upset about this in their game thread. I would have to say that no ref does that without being provoked, but then again, I recall a ref once ejected Tim Duncan because he was laughing on the bench.

It probably didn't help that it was near OSU's bench. Otherwise, the ref could have told him to go to OSU's bench... but he was just about there already.

What isn't in question is that Stevie Clark was in a funk that game and made poor decisions, resulting in an early foul-out. If this type of mediocrity runs in the family then I hope LSU enjoys their new Tiger. Rawr
