Attended the TU/Creighton game last night. It was my first TU home game in two years. The crowd was sparse but I had forgotton how loud that building can get (even with less than 4K in it). The Golden Hurricane have a great basketball facility and just got a new scoreboard last week.

Guys, we really need a new arena. Badly. Let's get a nice 9-10k seat facility that is made for basketball. The noise in the LNC just doesn't carry like GIA and the Reynolds Center.

I just don't think that is ever going to happen. Too much money has been pumped into LNC to start over.

LNC is plenty loud when it is full ..... and we have almost 9k season ticket holders right now ... and a few years of winning will have that number back up over 10k maybe 11k

there is no way and no reason to build a smaller facility

I'm not an accoustical engineer, but I think those metal panels on the walls at the Reynolds Center reflect the noise back toward the court and make it seem really loud. It would be nice if we had something like that - but as long as they are making money off of concerts I don't think that will happen as I doubt that those would be conducive to music.

Slightly off topic, but I think Wojick may actually get canned after this season. In a recent interview with the Tulsa World the TU President specifically mentioned "deteriorating fan support" of the basketball program as a concern.

Has Tulsa hired a new AD yet?

All my friends that are TU fans hate Wojick. He does just enough on the court and excels off the court (graduates players, runs clean program, etc.) to stay around. They are actually rooting for the team to tank this year, so they can finally get rid of him.

If not a new facility, why not remodel the LNC to make it more serviceable as a basketball arena?

Among other improvements, a renovation project could include better acoustics and a new seating arrangement with fewer seats that will give us a chance to pack the house for big games and have fewer empty seats for the lesser games.

but but but then you couldn't have Guns n' Roses concerts at the LNC

If not a new facility, why not remodel the LNC to make it actually have crimson seats?

:D

Yep. Many times in the past during big games and sold out, much was mentioned how intimidating LNC could be. It still can.
