Doolittle with 29 points, McGusty with 21. No one else in double figures.

End of story.

We also could not stop their inside game while we could not get ours started.

True. As much as I hate to admit it, our bigs got schooled inside by UT's bigs.

Those two together are going to be very good for 4 years. Need some others to step up, you can't really win with two freshman leading the way the time.

Yep....they needed one more guy to have a decent game....and we likely would have been OK. It's just tough to swallow losing a 5 pt lead with 17 seconds left.

Yep. They had competent bigs, we didn't.

Oh, and our best/most experienced player coming into tonight had ONE field goal more than me tonight. The Woodard no show was the story. Not winning much of anything if he doesn't show up.

Another game where our lack of inside bulk was taken advantage of. They couldn't keep Cleare from posting up too deep, and just got backed down by a guy just bullying them to the rim.

Absolutely true. Cleare was the difference in the game.

Having said that, though, I don't understand why OU didn't double down on him every time he touched the ball inside? I would rather leave a player open for a shot on the perimeter than allow a guy like Cleare to make shot after shot from point blank range.

We did that several times and someone got called for a foul every time, it seemed.

oh yeah. I mean I talked about the kid, the commentators kept talking about him. he's just an interesting specimen ... and then that cleare kid. my goodness. he's bobby jo + 50 lbs.

i'd love to be able to coach a kid like afro for 4 years in college. can you imagine how great he could be? but he'll be gone to the NBA after this season.

Agree. Double down and dare a team shooting only 30% from 3 to beat you from the perimeter. We know our post players aren't great one-on-one defenders. Both Lattin and McNeace play OK helping out on defense because they are both athletic and jump well ..... but need more bulk and strength to push back and root guys out of the paint. We know our interior defense is weak and other teams are going to continue throwing the the ball inside if they know the Sooners aren't going to collapse on them.

Re Cleare: Could that possibly be Polla in a couple of years? I can only dream.... already 6'11" and 265 while still in HS

I agree that Khadeem and Jamuni don't have the bulk to bang down low, but they can still do a better job of boxing out.

Is it possible Hannas Polla could be our Shaq Cleare someday? At 6' 11" 265, he's bound to have enough bulk to hold his own on the interior. I'm excited about the possibilities!

EDIT: Weird that we had the same thoughts about Polla. What's that saying about great minds? lol

And post defense was atrocious. I think we only had 3 assists FOR THE GAME! And we got killed on the boards. I thought we would win with 10 seconds left and yet am still surprised we were close.
