They're Sooners

I don't understand why you would even slightly defend this guy/gal?

Seriously, I'm not angry......I'm just stating the obvious....AND executing MY freedom of speech. Thanks for your concern Norm.

I will defend him because I will bet the farm that he has watched her play more than all of us on this board put together. I am also willing to bet that he knows a heck of a lot about basketball...something that seems to be in short supply around here. You apparently ignored what he said about Llanusa and only focused on what he said about the things Mulkey needs to improve upon. I must have missed it where he said Mulkey can never be a good college player. I think everyone believes she has the ability to do so. The question is, is she willing to work hard and dedicate herself to being as great as possible. It really is up to her.

The funny thing is i have Nancy number 5 on my board so I'm not here to troll her.

As far as the USA .....it's not about who's the best. It's who do they want to keep and what they want. Boothe was the best kid in the gym, Richards was the second best there. Lexi Gordon and Chrstyn Williams should have been on the team along with Charlie Collier. Yes i was there along with other services that had my same list of who should have made it.

Some on this board seem to think this board was set up for cheerleaders where everyone sits in a circle holding hands talking about how cute the team looks. They think the louder they cheer the better fans they are. They frown on honest opinions and, as you have seen, try to persuade those who offer views they don't appreciate to leave. The fact that you have her at #5 speaks volumes. Of course, some will complain you don't have her at #1.

That is who she is....she sits at the 3 point line throwing up a ton of jump shots. I got a chance to watch her first school game this year and it was amazing how many people were complaining in the stands.
Watch one game, and you will know that this is not true.

She does not love the game and without loving the game......you will never see the results you expect.

I do know for a fact that Baylor, Texas, and Texas A&M did not offer her, but those schools got to see more of her than any of you guys.

Just know this, i hope that she has a great career but if i were a betting man i would not place my money on it. We will revisit this subject in another year or 2.

I guess all the scouting services are wrong about Mulkey and dungee
You know for a fact? The complete post is simply an attack.

I ended up in you all forum on accident. I was reading the football board one day and saw that it was a girls basketball section.

As Sweetest has already pointed out, there is no football component to this board. Thus, this is a complete fabrication. Why is it necessary to have a fabrication about why you are on this board?

Her summer team had the Cal Stars beat in April because they benched Mulkey in the second half. Politics made the coach put her back in the game with 3 minutes left while cy fair was winning by 11. Well Cy Fair lost the game by 14 after they put her back in.
Want to try a little math? This suggests that the opposition scored twenty-five more points than Mulkey's team in three minutes. If two teams were in a scoring binge at the same time, it would be unlikely that they would score twenty-five points in three minutes---together. Why was the exaggeration necessary?

I consider this nothing more than the work of a troll. You just happen to follow Nancy's team around, despite the fact that you have no interest in her. Everything that suggests that she is good is dismissed. But, once you are revealed, you had her rated #5 all along. I see nothing indicating expertise in any of your posts, and your exaggerations give you away.

It is also very interesting who is willing to accept you as an expert.

Norm...I have read lots of your posts over time. I have no beef for you...but the simple that this guy comes on a message board and talks about "his list" and his "scouting" and then turns around and 'bets that she won't be a good player" or "she doesn't love the game" is simply the work of a troll. IF, and that is a big IF, this person actually DOES have a scouting service, then they are completely unprofessional coming on here to bad mouth a kid and their "love for the game" or lack thereof.

You can "bet the house" if you want....I'll pass it all off as B.S.

funny how you want to attack ME.......when the person who is in the wrong here is the person attacking a kid online that isn't here to defend herself. I'm calling out the person DIRECTLY. Doesn't make me a coward.

If MR. Skill...you are IN FACT a legit scout....tell us who you are and your service.

You are absolutely correct on this, Norm.

That's not what he said. He said, "Just know this, i hope that she has a great career but if i were a betting man i would not place my money on it."

From what I've seen I don't know that he's wrong. I don't know how many times you've seen her play but why don't you give us your scouting report and let's compare it to what he said.

Effective post, NCS.

It just seems like "skill..." has some kind of agenda in this. Hurt feelings or something. No way to be sure, but it just feels like that. You simply cannot say all the really negative things he said then come back with "I thought she was the 5th best in the class" statement.

Nothing against you, Norm, but there is really no need to defend him too strongly. If he is as smart as you seem to think, then Nancy will turn out to never play effectively, be one of the worst recruits ever by Sherri, etc.

But don't bet on that outcome sportsfans. ;)

There are two people who have commented on this thread that I have come to trust when it comes to recruiting. They both definitely know what they're talking about. One is GoWarriors and Soonergrad. Both of them appreciated what skilledserv said so it's not just me.

I know you are joking but, that is exactly what some on here will say as soon as someone makes a statement that a recruit needs to make some changes/improvement to be their best.

Skill can say whatever he wants but, I'm thrilled we got these two kids. I believe both will be true assets for Sherri's program. I have a problem with anyone coming here and denigrating any of our kids. Kids can be anything they want to be if they are willing to put in the the work.

SoonerNorm....I'll tell you this much.

I was a high school head basketball coach for 11 years. I was a college head basketball coach for three years. I have no problem evaluating talent. Those are facts about me.

He may be right......she may not end up being a great college basketball player. But, to come on here and say "Just know this, i hope that she has a great career but if i were a betting man i would not place my money on it." to question her love for the game......is simply unprofessional if he is actually a scout, works for a service or runs a service.

To say someone has weaknesses
"i.e. needs to learn to play at full speed, needs to get stronger, not a strong post scorer, etc" those are things a scout might say....they aren't questioning someone's "love for the game" or "I know for a fact Baylor, Texas and Texas A&M did not offer"

Her final list:

Baylor, UConn, Duke, Georgia, TCU, North Carolina, Louisville, Notre Dame and USC.

Looks like a pretty good list of schools, and included Baylor.

Again, I'll take his info with a grain of salt....I'm curious to know why you jumping on me in this is? You attack me because he "has a right to freedom of speech" but I don't?

I never said Nancy doesn't have things to work on.....EVERY athlete does when they make the jump to the college level. I'm not saying that she will be an All American...but I also didn't come on here and talk bad about her, question her ability or her love for the game. But I also gave Skill a chance to respond, because I'm not questioning him behind his back.

Are you of the opinion that all of those schools offered her?

I'm sure you know a lot more about evaluating talent than I do. Please share with us your scouting report on Nancy. That will give us more information about her and something to compare with what others have said.

Norm, I find it laughable that you want to continue trying to call me out. I haven't seen her in person....only in video. Does that really matter? I am not the one who came on here degrading her in any way shape or form behind a computer screen, all the while trying to make myself out to be an expert to justify my reasons for it.

I coached high school and college basketball for 19 years. I know the game. I also know enough about it to know that you don't compare the motor of a 6'9" post player with guards. I know enough to not try to tell the world that "in my opinion" the 5 best players at the USA camp didn't make the team. Does that really NOT sound laughable to you? You seem like an intelligent guy, just answer that question.

Like I said, you try to make this entire thread about whether Skill has the credentials vs my credentials to make an assumption about things. This isn't about me vs Skill.....it is about Skill making degrading remarks about a player on a message board to try to make himself seem important or his opinion about basketball to have some value. If that is what is important to you then go ahead agree with him. It really doesn't matter to me. I'll still call a spade a spade. I have been around the gym enough to know better.

Nancy doesn't have to be an All-American....but if she is a solid role player she will far surpass what many can do because a 6'9" role player is still 6'9".

and YES.....I'm of the opinion that most, if not all, of those schools on her list offered. I saw another board that said she chose OU over Texas and Baylor......both credible sites that would likely know.I know a lot of Baylor fans wanted her....and the Baylor site was on top of the fact that she was still considering them. That tells you something.

From his description, I question the fact that he has seen Nancy play.

Does Nancy hang out at the three-point line?

Did Nancy actually let the other team score 25 points in three minutes?

This isn't someone who observed Nancy. This is someone trying to make a point with exaggerations and distortions. If he saw her, he was too biased to be believed.

Funny, you seem to respect rocjunkie. He said that he saw exactly what I saw. That was very different from what the troll saw.

Bingo!

and that is what you spent so much time trying to bait me into? really?

sure...that makes him legit. I could watch a million cricket matches in person.....doesn't make me qualified to comment about them....or the players.

NorthCarolinaSooner I don't think soonernorm is trying bait you or troll. It just some people have thoughts and other's on the board does not agree. They tend to attack. I really think you have great basketball background unlike others.
