Things could be worse - we could be Mizzou fans

Think about that as you melt down over this coaching change. Missouri liked their coach and lost him to Arkansas. To me that is much worse than what we are facing at OU. It is an absolute slap in the face to the Mizzou program (the second one in a row - the Big Ten not wanting them was even better).

And then a very good coach like Matt Painter got dangled right in front of their face...

As opposed to the slow death of an elite eight team over two years, a coach getting fired, and every coach seeming to reject your advances? Yeah, being a Mizzou fan sucks right now.

It was a really quick death actually. Makes it much easier at this point in time.

Yep...I think that's the point...we knew it was coming...Mizzou just had a big pile of crap dropped in their face...

LOL, a Missouri fan always has to wake up to the fact that Gary Pinkel is their football coach. That trumps all.

Pinkel's fine. He'll maintain Mizzou at 8-10 wins over the next five or so years, maybe a year or two slightly better, then retire. MU will be in better shape then to hire a real difference maker than the football program has been since Devine left 40 years ago.

But to be honest, I really don't care about football. As long as they're not embarrassing MU with sub-.500 seasons or off the field issues, I'm fine with just about anything Pinkel does.

OU's fortunes can get turned around quick. You should know pretty well, you guys seemed to bounce back from a Duke alum's troubles (Quin) pretty well.

But what can't be changed is the fact that you guys have always been an inferior program compared to OU in basketball and football (without question). That's why its funny that you are on here talking trash as we speak.

OU will bounce back. I'd be more worried about the next nationally humiliating event that Mizzou is going to dig themselves into. You guys have already been on quite the stretch with the humiliation of the Big 10 rejection followed by the Painter fiasco...

No offense but that sounds awful aggie-ish. They say that type of thing when comparing rasslin' to football, at least until last year. All of a sudden os-who football is the talk of stoolwater. I'm sure that your tone would change if you actually won something in football.

It is very aggie-ish, but this is the typical Mizzou fan. They don't care about football as long as they have winning seasons and don't travel to bowls in far away states.

Their is a reason none of the major bowls want to have to pick Mizzou. Because they know nobody from Mizzou, other than the 500 football fans will make the trip.

True. And its not like their hoops program has had all that much going on to make them thumb their noses at football.

Yeah, and a reason they surpassed Nebraska this season in bowl pickings is because the powers-that-be wanted to stick it to Nebraska one last time before they jumped ship. Had Nebraska not jumped, it would've been extremely unlikely that Mizzou would've gone ahead of them.

Like jmizzy said, its pretty humorous when they aren't superb in basketball but still thumb their noses at football.

A few things:

1. MU beat OU in football this year. How many posts did I make about that? I really don't care.

2. Most MU fans are football first. I'd say the state as a whole is probably more of a baseball state than anything (Cardinals...). I hate it, as baseball couldn't mean less to me, but it's the truth. After that, it's definitely football. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the state or our fan base.

3. OU's "superiority" in basketball is minuscule, at best. Your edge lies with two final four appearances to our none. As far as conference titles, conference tournament titles, NCAA tournament appearances, sweet 16s and elite 8s, MU and OU are pretty much the same program going back through several decades.

It would have been dumb to make such a post anyways. Even with the win, it's hard to come with it when you just won to improve your record to 2-22 over the last 24.

You can save the football smack.

Like I said, I really don't care. I'm completely fine with what Mizzou is.

Cool stats.

What's that have to do with anything?
