This team could have folded like a cheap tent when they were down by 12 in the second half. Add the difficulty of beating a Big 12 opponent twice, on their home floor this time, and that made our come back to win by ten very special indeed.

This OU team is still not a finished product by any means. But that conference road win should give all of us hope that we can compete with anyone left on our schedule, not named KU. And, who knows, the toughness we saw today just might surprise the chickenhawks when they come to town in February.

Very promising start to the Big 12 season. This team is really coming together.

They find a way to win. WVU is not a good team. Kinda like their football team...overrated. But to win on road is big regardless.

Great post !! We see leaders on this team. Fitz, OS and Pledge are doing a great job just with there calming influence. Pledge is becoming very good when we need him to be. Just wish he could get his release point fixed....

Exactly the way I see it. Very nice road win - albeit against a team that is not very good. But I agree with the sentiment that we could have folded and we actually played very well down the stretch. Very happy for the team and hope we can maintain the momentum with a home win vs OSU.

I loved the ball movement late in that game - the best I have seen from this team all season.

We have no midweek game this week so we have all week to prepare for OSU.

What a difference a year makes.

Indeed! This is a much better team than the one we saw last year. The biggest difference is depth. Not just bodies, but at least nine guys who can play, most with the ability to start if need be.

The only thing we're missing right now is consistency from everyone except Romero. Ro has been solid in every game so far.

Schedule was well set up for conference play. I believe that from 2 nd down this conference is open and we are in that position right now...

I keep hearing this from people on this board (referring here to the part in bold), and they are probably right. However, WVU probably played their best Offensive game of the year. Yet we won by 10. This may not look like a great RPI win at the end of the season, but WVU's performance will get lost in the mix... We got their best shot, and were able to get out of Morgantown with a win. How many Big XII teams will be able to say that by the end of the year. My prediction: only 1 or 2! :woot

I think WVa was picked ahead of us in every preseason poll that I saw, and was considered an NCAA tourney team in some of those magazines as well. So I'm definitely happy with this win (and the ladies' win in that Evil Place known as Austin).

Two (2) OU Sooner basketball road wins on a Saturday afternoon in the Big-12. That is very special. Makes for many happy Sooners, and a peaceful message board.

I just hope it instills confidence in them because that will lead to better play. Great game.

I consider this win the mark of a team that hasn't reached its ceiling yet. The three frosh guards all had big moments in important minutes, Ro found a higher gear when it mattered, we limited mistakes down the stretch. And if you compare this year's team to last year's, the margin of error is more realistic. Last year's team had to play close to flawless basketball to win in-conference; this year, down 12 on the road, we scrapped back. The 2011 squad arguably played its best ball before the loss to St. Louis. I get the feeling we haven't seen this team's best ball.

This in a nutshell! I don't know that we are a much better team than last year except we have more depth and very little drop-off when substituting. We have 3 new starters (2 frosh) and they are still learning but when we get into foul trouble or substitute, we don't drop off much, if any. Hope they continue to improve as the season goes along.

I really like the chemistry this team seems to have....Really looks like they guys enjoy taking the court with one another.

You are right. There is great chemistry and that is why they can come back and/or win late in a game because they like and believe in each other. Great win Saturday on the road.

Everyone needs to take it a little easy on the optimism. I understand this is how fans are (we lost we are terrible! we won, we are on the rise!) game to game. If we beat OSU I will start to feel better but we have beat this team already away from home this year and still lost to a lesser team later at home.
