This was OU last year

Yep, it's like looking in the mirror at where we were this time last season. And, it only got worse from there.

It will be interesting to see how the numbers stack up on the "Fire Ford" poll if he doesn't turn things around soon? His support is already below 60%, and sure to go lower if the Pokes lose many more games.

I believe his job is safe, at least for now. OSU fans are more tolerant of underachievers than OU fans. Think about how long they put up with Sean and his antics, on and off the court.

Talking about Sean, anybody got a video of his famous backward flop? That was a highlight classic of OU's season that year!

I dont follow osewe but thought that Ford has done very well in recruiting. But it seems the players dont stay

He constantly oversigns classes, takes risky players and then boots guys. How he got a great kid like Marcus Smart I just don't know.

if osu let him go and hypothetically hired Scott sutton, would they let Sean come with him?

They won't be able to afford to dump him for a couple of years. And since they are now a 'football power', they don't care anymore!!!

IMO Travis Ford is the worst coach in the Big 12. I'm not just saying that because he's OSU's coach. I'm saying that because this is how I really would rank the Big 12 coaches right now.

1. Self -
2. Barnes -

3A - Kruger - good guy, experienced
3B - Martin - crazy bastard, but gets results
3C - Gillispie - personal problems aside has been a winner
3D - Haith - solid but yet to be seen in Big 12
3E - Kennedy - solid but yet to be seen in Big 12

8. Hoiberg - has done the best he can so far with his rosters
9. Drew - big time recruiter/cheater, can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag
10 Ford - recruiting is suspect, coaching is suspect

I would argue that his recruiting has been good. His evaluation and development has been suspect. He brings in talented players, but he can't seem to fit them into his system. He needs to better adapt his system to the strengths of his players.

If you are talking coaching only, and not recruiting, then Barnes is too high, and Self MIGHT not be #1. I know this will make me sound like a homer, but LK might be the best "coach" in the conference. MIGHT BE.

You are kidding about OSU being a football power, right? One big 12 title doesn't make you a powerhouse. Their talent and results has improved each year under Gundy but let's wait and see what they do over the next 5 to 10 years before we go and annoint them a "football power."

I am pretty sure he is kidding. I am also quite confident that OSU is going to be much worse next season. They lose a lot on the line, their quarterback and likely two of their top 3 receivers. OSU will need the defense to carry them in several games next season and I don't think that will happen. I look for OSU to lose 3-5 conference games next season. Losses are OU and KSU with potential losses to Tech, Texas, ISU, Baylor, TCU and West Virginia. I certainly don't think OSU will lose all of those potential losses but I also don't think they will win all of those games.

I agree, Denver. OSU football fans had better enjoy their success this season, because they may be in for a rude awakening next year and beyond. Don't get me wrong, the Pokes should be playing for the national championship this year. They were that good. But this was a talented team filled with stars at several positions who will not be there next season. If Blackmon goes pro, as projected, he and Weeden alone will be huge losses. One only has to ask if Brandon and Justin had not been on the team, how good would OSU have been this year?

OSU's defense played lights out in Bedlam. But that was an anomaly rarely seen in other games. With key losses in a number of positions, I don't see any chance of a repeat for the Pokes next season. I don't know about 3-5 conference losses? But I can see 2-3 in conference, with the possibility of 3-5 overall.

Sorry to be part of getting this thread off topic, folks. I'll put on my basketball hat again after I submit this post. lol

Not wanting to change this to a football discussion but when talking about OSU defense and looking a conference games only (best statistics for comparing B12 schools) OSU lead the league in scoring defense. OU's scoring defense was #4 in the conference.
