TMG may be the worst defender in the big 12

Second game in a row the ANNOUNCER says he stoled the ball with only a half step ahead and ended up with a free layup...this is against a quick tmg...

Bob Knight I believe mentioned it the last game...I could be mistaken on the person

TMG is extremely LAZY when he does not have the ball.

What pisses me off is JC lets him get by with it.

so tmg allows gulley to get his 1st three of the year!

I dont buy the whole laying off a kid that cant shoot...I believe you pressure everyone...if you have off a kid even if he cant shoot then he has wide open passing vision....

guys, we have the same problems now that we had with willie...I dont buy that willie was the problem

It is so sad that their fourth string point guard plays better defense than our starting point guard. :o:o

That is on the coaching staff not TMG, everybody who has been covering Gulley tonight has been playing him like that.

Im not sure that it is FAR worse but I do agree that it is worse.

I think Gallon is one of the worst I've ever seen and without question the worst in a zone quite possibly of all time. TMG gets beat off the dribble more often than I would expect for someone who has good quickness and WW is lazy on defense as well, but Gallon takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. The good thing is they all can get better and I think they will with experience and after learning they can't play AAU ball at this level and be successful.

Why haven't any of the freshmen improved on D? They were out of position tonight and have been all year. What coach is responsible for the D fundamentals now?

Was Kelvin that much better of a defensive coach or did the fear of the hook keep the guys busting their tail? With improved depth will Jeff use the hook next year to get some of the guys attention?

It was a combination of both. If this group of freshman played under Kelvin I don't think any of them would have lasted the entire season considering how demanding he was towards his players.

That's what frustrated me the whole game. I don't care about Gulley getting a three point shot. He can't shoot. But a guy who you don't even have to honor on the perimeter being on the floor and you're still giving up a gang of three point looks and easy buckets. Poor Cade Davis and crock out there running around trying to cover everyone. My goodness, Tiny Gallon let Matt Pilgrim take him off the dribble from the top of the key.

Tiny and TMG both are horrible defensive players. Both are very lazy.

Pledger and Fitzgerald are worse in my opinion so what does that say about Capel and his staff? They either can't (i) evaluate kids that are capable of playing defense (ii) teach defense or (iii) able to discipline players by benching them for not playing defense. (Honestly it is probably a bit of a combination of all three with number (iii) being the biggest issue.

Play Franklin. Send a freaking message that it won't be tollerated. A loss is a loss.

Pledger and Fitz are bad defenders but I think a lot of that is due to lateral quickness or lack thereof....TMG's is due to lack of desire and hustle and because of that, I think he is the worst.

And TMG seems like the guy who thinks he has personally won if he scores 22 but the guy he is guarding had 20, because well, he had 2 more points. That may work in HS and AAU, but in college, your team ends up getting smoked.

This is what I've been saying for weeks. Play Franklin for TMG and Gerber for Tiny. After they sit for a few games and watch they will either improve or leave.

But, Capel wouldn't do it and now if they come back it will be the same next year. They know Capel won't do anything so they can play however they want to improve their standing for the next level.

Watching this team with so much talent and so little effort is very disheartening. Even Tubbs early teams played better defense than this crew.

Were talking about def...go back and watch some of the games...Other then cade...Pledger was the best helpside defender we had...look at that OSU game...when "page" blew past TMG, who tried to take the charge...When the Jordan Kid from Texas was having his hot hand...Pledger Shut him down...Now he does need to be quicker laterally...but if we tracked deflections and 50/50 balls he would be near tho top of the team...and he was a willing defender..TMG, WWIII, Tiny...didnt even try

DM did you know that Tiny was playing on a injured Ankle?.. thats why he was able to take Tiny off the dribble.. I got word from someone that his ankle was swollen up like a baloon, but the kid tried to play through it..

You really don't know what you are talking about.. We are able to compete when Gallon is in the game. It shows when we take him out of the game. If you haven't noticed when a team is up by 10plus pts when tiny comes back in we cut that lead. Since he isn't scoring you probably don't value his presence on the court...
