To all Kansas, Texas & Oklahoma A&M fans

He isn't saying that Capel OWNS Barnes. Just that, recently, Barnes does not own Capel.

It's not that hard to understand.

I never said he claimed stoops owns Barnes, I can't even believe that was a reply. Of course he didn't say that. And that was never my point.

So let me help you understand where I'm coming from, because it isn't that hard to understand.

Most sooner fans claim that Stoops owns Mack because of the overall record. Even when we mention Mack owns him lately.

stoops4pres said Barnes doesn't own Capel because of the last 4 games being split. He even specified that he said it because of the word RECENTLY. Although he does own Capel.

By that logic Mack owns stoops RECENTLY, right.

I made that as easy as possible to understand.

Mack does own Stoops recently, but that is immaterial. You are arguing two different things. The situations are completely different. Stoops and Brown have an almost equal head to head record, with Stoops owning the earlier part of the series and Brown owning the later part. Barnes owns the overall series with Capel playing him even the last two years, ergo Barnes has not owned him the last two years. I don't even understand what you are arguing.

PS Any sooner fan that claims this "Most sooner fans claim that Stoops owns Mack because of the overall record." hasn't been paying attention the last several years.

I played a Jordan Hamilton drinking game last Thursday night......not easy.

So do you think Barnes still owns Capel? That's the main subject at hand: whether or not recently Barnes owns Capel. Barnes clearly has a better record overall--and did own him prior to last season(starting 0-5)--but when you go 2-2 the last 2 years, you can't claim you have owned them recently, because recently the series has been even. That's the point.

Who are "most" sooner fans you claim of? From what I've seen you're understanding is wrong-most sooner fans haven't claimed that. But maybe you've seen something I haven't. If most sooner fans do believe that as you claim, then its wrong: You can't "own" a coach when your record against him is 6-5 and 6-4 this decade.

Judging by the boards, most OU fans believe Stoops doesn't own Mack anymore. Did he from 2000-2004? Can't argue otherwise. But now--from my understanding--most OU fans believe Stoops doesn't own Mack anymore, since Mack has gotten the best of Stoops over the past few seasons.

Regardless, I don't know how you deduce that Mack OWNS Stoops, simply because I said Barnes hasn't owned Capel RECENTLY. Thats flawed logic.

I think the whole "this coach owned this coach" argument can go on forever, I just think that for you to say Texas is the 2nd best team in the big xii is reaching. You've had your success, your big time recruits, but when it comes down to it KS accomplished a ton before he left including at one point a 8 game winning streak over UT and 3 big xii tournament titles. Also Barnes is below .500 against OU overall and also when OU was ranked Barnes is 6-11 against us.

I could give a 2a and 2b because of your regular season success but you definitely are not above OU.

Plus Barnes would be insulted, he just cares about putting his players in the NBA and not about championships right ;)

My thoughts exactly, blh... I just think you're trying to talk trash to sooner fans. You could have made it more simpler just starting a thread that says "Mack owns Stoops recently" on Owen Field then coming up with some irrational logic reasoning on here. ;)

Good to have you back here though, blh. The horn posters now a days aren't as fun to argue with.

This.

Lets be honest here. Barnes is a good coach no doubt, but Dick Vitale could recruit high school all americans to texas and could very well get more out of them than Barnes has.

Take dex pittman for example. Barnes was credited with getting the fat off of him. He did some good things last year and the beginning of this year but fell off when the going got tough. He was unable to get the fat kid mentality out of pittman. He hardly jumps in any situation. He'd still rather use his girth rather than focus on positioning and timing. When he is sent to the bench I have never seen him show any emotion than would make me think he really wants to be out on the court. This is all a sign of not only bad coaching, but no coaching.

So how many AA's did we have before Barnes? And how many has Barnes brought to Texas? I'll wait. Or you can just say your comment was way over the top as far as how easy it is to bring AA's to Texas. He may not be the best coach out there, but he has done more at Texas than any other coach ever has.

He has also got the most out of players like Ivey, Mouton and Thomas. Many had never heard of them and he got alot out of them. The list doesn't stop with them either. There will always be players who don't meet expectations, and there will always be players that exceed expectations. It happens.

Isn't it ironic that OU and UT's best teams came with players who weren't primarily made up of McD's AA (the players you listed above and 1 McD guy in TJ Ford and our team of Hollis Price, White, McGee and Ere in 2002).

Then again, if we would have had Reynolds and James last year to go with Blake, we would have been special.....

Actually TJ's last season they had 3 McD's All Americans: Boddicker and Buckman were the 2 others. But yeah, Barnes has developed some undervalued recruits including those guys you mentioned as well as P.J. Tucker, etc.

I loved the way both of those teams played, Texas and OU. I remember being a big fan of McGee. He was nasty in the paint. It was hard for me to dislike OU back then. Truth is I didn't dislike OU. Straight lunch pale attitude on both squads. I miss that.
