Today's practice. Generally they looked alittle ragged. A couple of players really stuck out. Osby had a really good practice. The best player in the gym today. Cam is a different player. Stronger, more aggressive, and a retooled shot. He made more than his missed and had a really good day.

Of the fresman guards, Heild looked the most ready to play. He has a sturdier frame and he gets after it pretty good. Cousins, while alittle green, has some serious skills. He looks like he is going to be a good one. His shot wasn't dropping today. Hornbeak looks like a really good freshman prospect. He was alittle more prone to errors than the other two. Of course all of that could change tomorrow.

M'Baye worked with both the bigs and guards at different times when they broke into position drills. His shot wasn't falling either and he wasn't getting himself open as much as Osby. But, he is a good one.

Spangler didn't have a particularly good practice. He doesn't seem to have much offense outside of about 5 ft. And he turned the ball over real ugly a couple of times. I think Spangler is going to be just fine. He just didn't show it today. Cole needs a redshirt year. He is no stiff. But, it looks like he needs alittle time. Arent has taken a big step forward. He is likely to be some legit help this season. Bennet didn't show alot till the last 30 min. of practice. Then he threw down a couple of highlight reel dunks. He is pretty athletic and I wouldn't rule out him being some help right away.

The old hands have all seem to have moved forward alittle. Fitz looks to be moving and running alittle better. Pledger's practice intensity has gone up. He may have slimmed down some. And he didn't get punked in defensive drills hardly at all. I didn't really see much difference with Tyler.

There was no indication at all as to who might be ahead for starting or in what position. The team was broken into three mix and matched groups. One thing different from last year was that pure conditioning drills occupied less time. That is probably an indication that the team has come in much better conditioned.

That is as unbiased as I can get it and I hope those that missed practice can get something out of it.

Thanks

I was extremely impressed with Kruger. He met my wife on campus briefly on Wednesday and remembered her name when he greeted us at the practice. This guy could be the CEO of any major company.

The last practice I went to was during the Sampson era. This was such a breath of fresh air. If I had a son who wanted to play basketball I would advise him to play for Kruger regardless of where he coached.

Outstanding report, Gary! Loved the breakdown on players.

Keep 'em coming!

Thanks. Has Tyler worked much on his game this off season? He may be headed to the far end of the bench.

If you play D-1, you work on your game in the offseason, but how much and his ceiling is the question!
