My word, Jerrau is a skinny kid. His downhill court vision seems very good, but if he reports to OU, it's a steady diet of Whataburger and weight rooms for him. I like his ability in the video to change pace, though, and 6'4 is a nice luxury for a PG.

Brison's game looks like a mini version of Serge Ibaka ' s first couple seasons in the NBA: he hunts blocks, stays active on offensive glass, doesn't have any post moves, and runs the court. If he grows 2 inches, he's a high D-1 motor guy as a frosh, with upside if he refines his post game and/or develops a midrange jump shot. His explosion on dunks is very promising, though.

They list Jerrau as 6'4" and 155 lbs. Brison Gresham looks just as skinny. Jerrau says he wants to leave Louisiana but be close enough to get home on holidays. That video showed him driving to his right a lot, and not many outside shots. Gresham's game looks a lot like Lattin did back in HS.

Some observations.

October 2 ... The timing of the official visit is interesting. Payton Pritchard’s intentions should be clear by October 2nd, so the need for an alternate PG in the 2016 class should also be clarified by then. The home football game against West Virginia is that same weekend, so OU continues to bring in basketball recruits on football weekends.

Alternatives ... OU needs a good PG in the 2016 class and this coaching staff will land a good PG in the 2016 class. They are examining options in both high school and junior college (e.g., Darrion Strong, Coffeyville, Kansas; Donovan Jackson, Western Iowa).

Louisiana ... I like the fact that the OU football and basketball coaches have extended their recruiting efforts into the state of Louisiana. There is tremendous athletic talent in Louisiana. The football team has two redshirt-freshmen and two true freshmen on scholarship.

Tallness ... This trait is an advantage at every basketball position. The prospect of a young, talented, athletic PG with an upside is intriguing.

FWIW, the 247 Crystal Ball says LSU:

Judging solely on the videos...give me Gresham over Jarreau. The top 100 ranking is a little curious IMO.

I liked what I saw of both players, but Jarreau's ability to drive and finish in the lane is what I liked the best. Yes, he needs to spend some time in the weight room. But, a player's strength can't always be measured by weight alone. He's one of those wiry, athletic kids who has found a way to finish at the rim despite his skinny frame.

I also agree with furge about his court vision. Dare I say that "Dejon has a knack for spreading the ball around to his teammates."

According to 247 Sports, he has an impressive list of offers. Among them OU, Zona, Texas, LSU, WSU and Memphis, to name just a few of more than a dozen schools that have already offered him.

I agree with usedtobe1's comparison of Brison Gresham to Lattin in high school. He's long, athletic and a little raw offensively, just like Khadeem was back then. If his list of offers according to Rivals means anything, he has a huge upside and a bright future with the school of his choice someday.

Here's some clips about "Deeky" Jarreau and Brison Gresham. They play AAU and HS ball on the same team and want to go to school together. LSU is considered the favorite for both players.

Here's something on Gresham from a recent Vegas tourney:
Brison Gresham - Playing for a very good Elfrid Payton Elite squad, the 6-foot-8 power forward has put himself into contention for the 2016 Rivals150. He can play above the rim, runs the floor and has an outstanding motor. He's now accumulated offers from programs like LSU, Baylor, Creighton, Alabama and more while speculation builds that he and four-star point guard DeJon Jarreau (a summer and high school teammate) would like to play together in college if possible.

Here's excerpts on Jarrreau:
Generally, Louisiana isn't considered one of the top states in the country for pumping out basketball talent. That perception may change with the talent coming through in the next few classes. In the 2016 class, the state has three four-star prospects in DeJon Jarreau, Lamar Peters and Robert Williams. Jarreau, currently ranked No. 44 overall in the 2016 class, had a terrific weekend for Elfrid Payton Elite. He's grown to about 6-foot-6 now and can legitimately play point guard or play off the ball in a scoring role. He's yet to make a college decision, but whittled his long list down to 11 schools recently.

Note: It's difficult for me to visualize OU with a 6'6" PG. I bet he ends up as a wing. Almost everyplace lists him as a combo guard "Deeky" Jarreau

This link has an interview with the 2 of them after winning an AAU tournament last weekend ..... I couldn't understand all of it but it gives you a perspective of their size. Interview

On kind of a downer but expected note, Michael Porter Jr trimmed his list from 17 down to 10 schools, and OU was eliminated. He's the #3 rated player that wants to go as a package deal with Trae Young.

Judging solely on the videos...give me Gresham over Jarreau. The top 100 ranking is a little curious IMO.

I agree. Gresham seemed like the better fit for us. Not real impressed with the guard.

Lon seems to be on a recruiting tear. I think he is so genuine and knowledgeable. It doesn't surprise me that kids want to play for him.

2018 Update: DeJon Jarreau and Brison Gresham
Recruiting saga from the past. Class of 2016

Both of these players from New Orleans were recruited out of high school as a "package deal." According to recruiting services at the time, OU had "offered" these players, as did schools like Miami, Arizona, Creighton, LSU, and others. Both players committed to play at UMass.

Through their college history, they have remained a "package deal." Here is their timeline.

2016-17 .. Played for UMass as freshman.
April 2017 .. Left UMass when their coach (Derek Kellogg) was fired.
2017-18 .. Attended classes at Howard College (did not play basketball).

November 2017 .. Both players signed with the Houston Cougars. They are both listed as Redshirt Sophomores on the Houston roster.

What a basketball recruiting journey so far. Who knows where it will end. Houston was not on their recruiting list when they were being recruited out of high school. Two members of the Houston coaching staff (Quannas White and Hollis Price) played their high school ball in New Orleans. My guess is that link helped get these young men to Houston.

Anyway, we are in the middle of another recruiting season and I found this recruiting saga interesting. The roundabout journeys that many college basketball players take are rather amazing.

NOTE: Houston plays OSU in Stillwater on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

A side note in this saga regarding Derek Kellogg, the UMass coach that was fired in 2017.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Kellogg

Derek Wolfgang Kellogg (born June 20, 1973) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head men's basketball coach at LIU Brooklyn. He was previously head coach of the men's basketball team at his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, being named to the position on April 23, 2008, replacing Travis Ford, who left to take the head coaching job at Oklahoma State University. He was removed from the position on March 9, 2017.
