2016 remaining Targets

I guess Donovan Jackson is the juco PG that ouleopard said didn't want to share the point with Woodard for a year. Good to hear we're still in on Darrion Strong. His HS film looked good.

..... the juco point guard does not want to share a job for one year so they have parted ways.

> Darrion Strong, Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College
Men's basketball NJCAA All-American teams were released on March 31 and Coffeyville Red Raven freshman guard Darrion Strong was named to the third team. Strong was second in scoring in the Jayhawk Conference this past season, averaging 21.3 points per game. Strong hit 42% of his three-point attempts, making 108 out of 257. He shot 47% overall from the field, making 222-of-471 shot attempts. From the free throw line, Strong connected of 83% of his attempts, 130 out of 156. Strong was earlier named Jayhawk East Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. He was also named first team All-Conference and first team All-Region VI.

> Donovan Jackson, Western Iowa Community College (Council Bluffs, Iowa)
2014-15: Donovan started in 20 games for the Reivers during his freshman campaign. He was second on the team in points per game at 13.6ppg, total three point field goals made (66), and three point percentage (40%).
HIGH SCHOOL: Donovan Jackson came to Iowa Western from Milwaukee, WI, home of former Reiver and current overseas professional player Charlie Westbrook. The 6’1” Jackson had an All State and All Conference senior campaign where he averaged 18ppg, 6rpg, and 5apg for head coach Joel Claassen’s program. While at Milwaukee’s Pius XI High School Donovan helped earn the team conference and regional titles and a state tournament appearance.

Yes it was Jackson.

Heard ku may offer strong.

Strong is thought to be an ISU lean (see 247sports article below). His father played there in the 80's:

Let's get right to it. Darrion Strong's father, Adrian Moore, played for Iowa State in the 1980s. Darrion is familiar with the Cyclones, he's been to Ames several times, having gone to prep school in New Providence, Iowa, and playing AAU ball with the Iowa Attack. He'll get another chance to see the facilities and meet the new coaching staff when he visits officially the weekend of Sept. 12, as first reported by Scout.com.

Yuk. Good find Ada. I won't get my hopes too high for Darrion, although kids tend to make up their own minds.

Any more info recently on Jarreau or the others? Now that Payton is staying on the west coast, who is our best shot? If we really have a shot with Jarreau, won't it be late October or November before we could get a commit?

DeJon Jarreau visits on Oct 3rd for the WVU football game. Juco PG Darrion Strong visits next weekend, Sept 5th. I think we will know before late October because the early signing period is November 11-18, and most of these kids sign in the early period. If OU has 2-3 offers out for a PG, they may take whoever commits first.

In all honesty, I expect Jarreau to sign with LSU and Strong to go with Iowa State.

I agree with what you said about taking the first point guard to commit. We know for sure that Strong, Jarreau and Caldwell have an OU offer. Justin Hite also said the Sooners have an interest in the #79 ranked recruit, Tyson Carter, a PG out of Mississippi who went from an unranked player last week to breaking into the top 100 this week. He doesn't have an OU offer yet, But if we strike out on the three players I mentioned above, I can see that changing soon.

Here are a couple of links to some Carter mix tapes I found. He's #24 in black in the first tape; #4 in orange in the second:

Jarreau, Gresham and Bolden are the only ones that OU is actively recruiting for 2016.

Waters' ship sailed when McGusty committed, Hobbs doesn't like the competition at OU

and the juco point guard does not want to share a job for one year so they have parted

ways. Sure they would take Pritchard but who knows where that is going. He says he

wants to visit again but in all honesty, what for? Jarreau and Gresham are not locks to

LSU at this time but if LSU was to put on the full court press they probably would be. That

has not happened at this time. The lucky thing with Bolden is that his parents are

middle class as a family and don't seem to be able to be bought. The only visit he has

set up is to Duke(official visit).

Are Jarreau and Gresham locks to go to the same school?

Yes, they're down to 7 schools.

.... the talented high school duo of De'Jon Jarreau and Brison Gresham out of New Orleans took one step closer to coming true Tuesday..... Jarreau and Gresham have said their recruitment is a package deal. High school teammates, their intent is play together in college, too.

Gresham is no slouch, but it's Jarreau that's an ESPN top-100 recruit and one of the best high school guards in the country. Jarreau posted a graphic to Twitter featuring the UMass logo, along with the logos of the six other finalists – LSU, Miami (Florida), Creighton, Tulane, Oklahoma and USC – to make the announcement.

Already Gresham, a three-star post, and Jarreau, a four-star point guard, have taken unofficial visits to Creighton and LSU. They are also scheduled for official visits to Miami (Sept. 18-20) and Oklahoma (Oct. 2-4). It is unknown at this point which three of the remaining five on their lists will receive the final official visits.

ouleopard said the coaches think it's down to OU and USC, but I would guess LSU is still in it.

Newest Rival Rankings...
Jarreau ranked 40th
Gresham ranked 133rd

Jarreau is outranking Payton Pritchard... Think about that, we lost a top PG and may replace one that is more sought after.

Lon Kruger is the man.

FYI
Doolittle #118
McGusty #45
Freeman Unranked but considered top 50-60 if in USA fulltime.

Staff will be in NoLa for an Inhome visit for the duo tonight

Great news!

I think this may be a sign our coaches are hoping to come away with a commitment after their inhome visit tonight. If they do, Strong will likely be told to go somewhere else. If not, I have a feeling the decision will be made to try harder to get a commitment from Strong, add a big later and call it good with our 2016 class. That's pure conjecture on my part, of course.

How close am I to the way you see this playing out?

I think the best chance we have with the duo is by getting a commitment shortly after they come to Norman Oct. 3, and hoping Strong doesn't commit elsewhere in the meantime.

I agree, only I think a commitment during the visit, even if it's silent, could go a long way in determining what our coaches will do between now and October 3rd. Three weeks is a long time to slow play a recruit like Strong. If KU and ISU have an interest, he must be pretty darned good.

OU's greatest need in the 2016 class right now is a PG. We can't afford to take a chance on losing Strong while we wait to see what Jarreau and Gresham will or will not do on October 3rd. That's why I think our coaches scheduled this in home with their two main targets tonight. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this visit.

Tulane Creighton Oklahoma and Miami are turning up the heat with these home visits with DeJon Jarreau @LaDeeky and Brison Gresham @bri_son32

Looks like others are coming as well...

this from their AAU team
