Right. And history suggests it's rare to see guys average a double double in the Big 12. It's been done by 11 guys in the past decade. Seven of those 11 were first round picks in the NBA. It takes a special player to accomplish that, regardless of the team he's on (all but two of the 11 were also on very good teams).

And Fitzgerald averaged 5 rebounds per game last year. Expecting Osby to come in and double Fitzgerald's production and quadruple the best Osby's ever done himself is probably setting yourself up for disappointment.

I'm pretty sure that I have a better handle on Osby's potential than you do. And besides, I don't have much of an emotional investment in any particular players statistics. So, it will not be either disappointment or elation. I just like watching the kids play.

Maybe you do. But he's going to have to be damn good to average a double double.

Fun facts:
*Only once in his two years at Mississippi State did Osby pull down more than 7 rebounds in one game (career high of 8 against Division III Centenary).
*Only four times has he finished with more than 6
*He's scored in double figures six times in his career, with a career high of 15 (against Division II North Alabama)

Maybe there's a double double machine just waiting to break out, but he's done a pretty good job of hiding it so far.

Lol @ the Pillsbury Doughboy wasting time researching statistics from Osby's freshman/sophomore years when he was behind Jarvis Varnado and only playing 12-13 minutes/game to try and discredit people on an OU message board who have been watching him play in person 2-3 years later.

And they wonder why nobody cares if missouri and their century of being bent over stays or goes. To the contrary most people seem very pleased with the WVU addition in replace of Missouri because they are a dramatic upgrade.

Osby's stats at Miss. St. are widely available. But, thanks for sharing them with those posters that haven't bothered to look them up. You seem intent on giving me history lessons. I thought the conversation was about projecting Osby's future performance.

So, I'll try again. Osby is a pretty good basketball player. I'm not projecting him to be an NBA player. They really don't have a position for guys his size and with his skills. He is more likely a D league all star or a Euro type. But in college, he won't run into many players than he can not work around.

I certainly understand that 10 boards per game will be a much tougher step than double digit points for him. But, he is the best rebounder by far of the group likely to spend the most time on the floor. Much quicker to the ball than Fitz and much closer to the basket than Cam. Much taller than Grooms and Calvin. Much more active than Pledger and Blair. Much more athletic than CJ and Honere. If Arent developes to the point that he will get 15/20 minutes a game, he will snag a few. But, even with that, Osby is destined to be the leading rebounder on the team.

Now, if that translates into 8 or 9 boards insted of 10, well, I guess that you are just a genius. I have taken a critical position on the abilities of a couple of players. But, Ive seen them play over an extended period of time. Why don't you give Osby the same break?

We are not discussing the history of the Big 12 conference. I am talking about Osby's production.

Relative to what Fitz hung up last season. What was it 12/7? It is my opinion that he is better than Fitz and will outrun those numbers. On another team or in another year I might not make that prediction. But, on this team this year and relative to who he will be competing with for points and rebounds, I feel comfrontable in doing so.

12 and 7 is a very respectable post player. Fitz averaged 4 boards a game. Averaging a double double is a big deal.

Thanks for the lesson. But, my premise is that Osby is a much better player than Fitz and that skill differential will show up in the statictics.
