Trae and the NBA

It's Trae's frame that makes people question him. I remember the same questions about Chris Jackson and even what's his face at golden state. Both did well. And Trae is better overall than they were (especially Jackson).

Someone name a guard bust. I can't think of any. Surely it has happened.

There are plenty of guard busts. Johnny Flynn was taken one spot ahead of Steph Curry. Dante Exum, Emmanuel Mudiay.

There is zero chance Trae is a bust. His worst case scenario is Lou Williams today. 6th man getting buckets off the bench and not playing any defense. Best case is Steph Curry or Steve Nash 2.0.

I wouldn't call Mudiay a bust yet... He's 21 years old and averages 9.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game in his third year. His field goal shooting has improved to over 40%, his 3pt shooting is now at nearly 41%... He is getting better at the things that have held him back.

I bet Mudiay is a very good player for someone when he is 23/24 and puts it all together, but he is definitely improving and even at 23/24 he won't be in his prime yet.

He's worth having.

Re: Trae and t

If Trae returns it will be because he’s having the time of his life and doesn’t want to leave. He may also feel he has a lot more to accomplish as a student athlete at OU. You only get one chance. That opportunity is over the moment you sign with an agent. His life will be strictly business from that point forward.

I doubt if that is what will happen, but I wouldn’t rule it out entirely. I’m not as convinced as some seem to be that he is all but gone at the end of the season. As hard as it is for most people on this board to believe, money does not mean the same for everyone. There are also ways to guarantee Trae’s future without signing an NBA contract. Call me crazy if you want. If I’m wrong, that won’t bother me either.

With his dad wanting a Big Blue school in the fist place, I can't see him being anything but one and done... If he was at Duke or Kentucky there wouldn't be any talk of a return IMO...

ALso OU could get in on a high school kid late, if there is a coaching chance somewhere one is committed already...

the top 14 makes you a lottery pick ... that is always how it has been defined since 1984 (the teams not in the playoffs are in the lottery thus those are all lottery picks)

also close to a 0% chance trae is a "total bust" several of the guys you listed have total bust potential

Picks #4--#14 technically are not lottery picks although 14 teams participate in the lottery. After the 3 lottery picks the ramaining 11 picks are chosen in the inverse order of the won-loss records of the teams. No luck of the draw for those 11 teams. Hence they are not lottery picks justincorrectly referred to as lottery picks by the media. The 2018 draft will increase the lottery picks from 3 to 4 with the remaining 10 picks the inverse of their won-loss record.

Can you name a bust guard? I can name several bigs. Most recently is Graf Oden over Kevin Durant

Whether they are bust or not is not relevant to where they are drafted. They bust long after the draft. It becomes what the teams feel is the financial risk of the draft prospects.

whatever

Trae could be like Blake and want to stay.
He will be played much tighter the rest of the year. I hope he learns to be more selective on the 3s. Several of his long shots were just quick throws.

By chance does Trae have an older brother?!

No, they are lottery picks. Lottery picks are those obtained by teams who participate in the lottery. Those picks are #1-14. You are wrong.
