TRAE!!!- Announced as Asst GM- Donation

Trae could have gone anywhere. He chose to stay home and play his one and done year in crimson and cream. He's always loved OU. He's always come back home and has always been welcomed back home.

Glad he's giving back to the program.

Yup...I was at the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament in Columbia, SC, OU vs Mississippi...and guess who was hanging with Joe C. I get it that Atlanta is only a few hours away from Columbia, but that's hardly the point. Trae was there supporting his Sooners.

Hopefully Jeremiah feels the same way about OU. He didn't grow up an OU fan, but he seems to really appreciate the way Moser coached him through his one season and I hope that translates into ongoing warm feelings about OU.

I’m sure we will try to keep him (and his dad) involved with the OU Club of Chicago.

It's a different era. You have to do the one and done thing and get into the league as soon as possible. The money has always been good, but it's even bigger now.

In my era, guys would stay two or three years just to get the college experience and have fun playing with their friends. Also, the NBA wasn't taking many players straight out of high school or after one year. We got upset with Wayman for not coming back for his senior year...he'd have been one and done in this era. By the time we got to Blake Griffin, we were tickled that he stayed two years. (Jordan was Wayman's contemporary, and he even played three years for UNC)

It helps that Trae is from Norman. Norman is home and OU is home for him. He probably would have liked to stay, but you have to take the money when it's there. Regardless, he, by his actions, is a Sooner for life.
