Norman North sophomore-to-be shooting guard Trae Young received an offer from the #Sooners during a visit to the OU campus today. #okpreps

Anyone know much about him? I had heard he is starting to move up recruiting boards.

His dad played for Texas Tech. Rayford Young. FWIW.

Woodard type player

Can you explain this?

Two different type of players to me. I have heard he has grown, he was small this past season but was only a soph. Jordan was explosive at the HS level, Trae scored with his smooth shot. He may have become much more explosive the past few months. That would be bad news for 6a Teams. Norman North has three really good guards.

OU seriously looking at Ethan Chargois from Union now too. He measured in at 6'8 220 and is in the same class.

Take this for what it's worth, but the only time I saw him play, he appeared to be more of a Steph Curry type player (obviously, not that good yet). More of a shooter. I'd say, from what I saw, he's not much like Jordan at all.

Of course, I didn't see Jordan as a sophomore either.

Yeah, the Woodard comparison surprised me by comparing Jordan to a shooting guard. Jordan is strong, quick, and stocky, but not much of a jump shooter.

I may be confused with another OKC area player.. I know young can score it .

I'll think of the other kids name.. My fault

Anyone know if he is a local kid or recently moved here? Seems like so many of these star basketball players are at a different spot every couple of years.

I don't know how long he has been here. I made a mistake above when I typed Soph, he was only a frosh last year.

He was a smooth shooter, small and not explosive right now. However as I said, very young so that could change. If he is really 6'2 as they say he has had a big growth spurt.

His team Dickinson was really good last year as a soph also. North has some great underclassmen guards.

If it's Rayford Young's kid I believe he has been here for a good while. I remember hearing Rayford do an interview in the last year or so and I got the impression that he had been living in Norman for years.

Yeah 6'2" is stretching it pretty good I think. Not real athletic, but can really shoot it and has a quick release. Definitely a 2 guard. Shoot-first and not gonna get in the lane much.
