We all know Trae has a great offensive game, but I think that his defensive contributions will also be huge. His quickness will make a big difference.

He has excellent quickness and a high defensive IQ. He has the talent to keep other PGs out of the paint. I would have loved to see how he could matchup with Frank Mason.

His other significant contribution is occurring every day of the summer. All of the other OU players are getting the chance to try to keep his quickness out of the lane. Playing against elite quickness everyday should make OU's individual and team D much better.

His decision to bypass the U19 team is great for OU.

good post!

I've been trying to pay attention to his personality. I see the confidence there and the creativity in his game. He also seems pretty even-keeled. I am looking for things to show if he engenders comradery and gives adequate consideration to his teammates. Dont get me wrong I've seen nothing to indicate he doesn't and I am not saying anything bad about him at all. I just want to find comments and the like from people who dont have the vapors. I think it's important for a point to be a "we" person ... moreso than other positions obviously. But also in spite of the fact he's a big scorer. I'd rather him start off not trying to win games on his own and I think his propensity here will be a major factor.

Really excited to watch this team. I wish it would start right now!!!

Excellent points, Larry! I agree with everything you said.

Picking up where Coolm left off, I thinks Trae's leadership qualities may be one of his greatest strengths. I realize he's just a freshman, but taking control of an offense as well as a team is nothing new to him. Read what he said when he announced his decision to stay in Norman and pass on the opportunity to play on the U19 team.

Trae welcomes the challenge. He doesn't shy away from being a team leader the way most freshmen would do. I said a number of times last season that the absence of a leader was one of our biggest weaknesses. No one, and I do mean No One seemed willing to accept that role. Trae Young will change that.
