I'll try and find the audio. I need to hear to it again. Not sure if I interpreted some of the things he said right on the first listen. Here's the bare bones version.

* Says he shouldn't have mentioned OU in his rant against Norman Transcript and Oklahoma media, but kind of doubled down on his original thought about the media. Said they never called or congratulated him when he was named to the McDonald's All-American team.

* Mentioned that Trae gets more love from Kentucky and Kansas fans than OU fans. This part I want to listen to again because there was more said and I want to quote it word for word.

* Trae is down to two schools. Didn't say who. I think we all know.

* He's going to decide sometime in February.

* Said Trae handles the media and criticism from fans better than he does. Agreed.

* Trae texts with Kevin Durant about the process.

* Jim Traber invited him to have Trae make his announcement on his show. "You know, because we have the No. 1 rated shows on this station". :ez-laugh:

I personally think it would be dumb to pick Kentucky. Total CS move...kinda like Durant going to Golden St. Easy way out.

Of course I'm biased, but he could have a MUCH bigger impact at OU than any other school he is considering...and there is plenty of young talent on the OU roster, where if Trae is as good as he and his dad thinks he is...he could lead this team to the NCAA tourney....and bring them to the next level..ala what Carmelo did at Syracuse.

He would just be another guy at Kentucky....and about the same at KU. Or he could be one of the greats to go through OU and be remembered as of the school's best!!

well shoot...no way he comes here now. The whorn will screw us again

No doubt!! Why would you want to take advice from Durant..after the way he handled his whole fiasco!!!!!

He would be better off taking advice from Westbrook!!!!

He definitely does get more love from Kansas and Kentucky (mostly Kansas now) on Twitter than he does OU. But that's what will happen if you wait until National Signing Day of football to make your decision.

Related: Greg Swaim went off on Oklahoma fans and media today on Twitter talking about how Oklahoma fans and media only care about football recruits, while most of their best basketball talent continues to go to Kansas and Kentucky because no one pays attention to them in Oklahoma. Normally, I wouldn't think much of that, but Trae was liking those tweets.

I thought we ran Swaim off years ago...

Ray Young is a clown. The whole interview was clownish. Traber spent most of time sucking up to Ray and assisting in bashing his media brethren. Defending Ray Young's comments but forgetting he did the same thing to Stevie Clark.

Then they got into talking about how Trae Young listens to slow music and New Edition. Super strange. Looked like a cheap way for Ray to save face for what he did, but like ADA said, he really just doubled down.

"When you get recruited by schools like Duke, Kansas and Kentucky, their fans are really educated. Not to say that Oklahoma basketball fans aren’t, but Trae and I and our whole family, get so much love from those types of schools, the media."

Somebody needs to remind Rayford that OU has more Naismith winners than Kansas.

If Trae wants to showcase his skillset for the NBA, he won't be able to do it anywhere else like he would at Oklahoma in Lon's guard oriented offense.

oh, who knows.

It irritates me because I love OU's program and I feel slighted. But, the truth is our fan base for basketball IS more fickle about the sport. It's a fact.

The kid will do great no matter where he goes so maybe our lackluster fan base will detract from his experience. Putting my pride aside I have to acknowledge thats a distinct possibility.

I have always said I can't fault a kid who wants to leave the state to attend school elsewhere. So it's cool. His dad's just looking out for him. I am sure I'd do the same.

Fine. Go out of state Trae, just get it over with already.

There are tons of other great recruits that would probably feel privileged to be a part of this great program. Go get them Lon!

I bet Lon knows that it isn't going to happen..Maybe Lon being quiet because what could be when Trae ends up at KU. Fans would be saying OU didn't try hard enough, gave up...ect

KU, UK, Duke...blue bloods of bball and absolutely pathetic at football. Look, there's a reason they keep increasing football stadium sizes and raising prices and still sell-out while bball attendance numbers drop. As to not congratulating Trae on his McD AA selection, if the NT didn't, that's bush league. I can't even begin to fathom my hometown paper not going ape about such an honor. Unfortunately, I don't think some NT sports guys want to be a local sports writer and hope that by looking detached from local sports they may get a shot at bigger areas.

1) . Those fans that show you so much love during the recruiting process will turn on you in a New York minute if you have too many turnovers or miss important shots.

2) . Hopefully, when players make their decision about where to go to school, how the much love the fans show you during recruiting is lower on the list than how you get along with the potential coach and teammates.

As a brief tangent, has everybody seen W. Kentucky recruiting class? Wtf?

Considering we get MAYBE 75% of the seats filled for top 25 matchups, I would say Young is right about OU fans not being as good as those other schools...just being honest. They sell out games against Appalachian State or IUPUI, we can barely sell out a game against KU (or may not sell it out, and definitely not fill it).

When the football team is down seems like things are better for the basketball program far as fans showing up.

Come on, we aren't going to go get anyone close to this caliber right now. It's rare to have a special talent like this right here in our backyard, and when we do we need to do all we can to make sure they stay home and play for this great program.

Trae, don't go to a school where you will be just another guy to them and when you leave they won't remember because they will just bring in the next. Stay home and become a legacy and a legend. Be a part of the team that knocks Kansas off it's throne. Hell might as well lead this team to a national championship while you're at it. This team is already on the verge, being lead mostly by talented freshmen and sophomores that are only going to be better and more experienced when you get here. Come be that piece that drives it.

Trae and I and our whole family, get so much love from those types of schools, the media.

Oh for pete's sake. How much love Mr. Young and his family get shouldn't even be on the list of considerations. He needs to focus on his son, not on his own need for affirmation. His priorities are way out of whack.

The Youngs need only ask Buddy and his mom how loved they felt (and still feel) in Norman. That should be all the reassurance they need, if the family "getting love" is what concerns them.
