Trae Young's father was interviewed on The Sports Animal

I know a Kansas site said that he would make his pick in February and use a Bleacher Report video to commit. Sounds like they're more in the know than anyone around OU. I think that's a sign of things to come.

look - anyone who saw that debacle could attest to the fact that there were 2 young men up there. Both enamored with the attention. What I did not see up there was a dad and his son. That bothers me.

It's weird the dad acts like that. The guy could play. Guess he just wants to do it all over again.

i just get a bad vibe listening to both of them.

Seems like there will be issues wherever he goes.
I mean he already came out and said he would be the starting pg no matter where he chooses.
Seems like he would get here and be a selfish player and be all about me, me, and me.

Some pretty harsh takes on this imo. Trae is a phenomenal player and I would love to have him. I thought his dad sounded really sincere and intelligent in the interview and I have no doubt he simply wants the best for his son. Are they maybe enjoying some of the spotlight? Yea sure who wouldn't? Our team will be fine regardless. If we don't get him I really hope we get a grad transfer.

Trae announced on Twitter he is announcing his commitment date this week.

Dude, you need to chill. He's a young man that enjoying the process. Nothing wrong with that. He'll never have the chance again.

And, honestly, the longer this draws out, I think it's better for OU. If he's just going to listen to his Dad, he'd already be committed to KU and this would all be over. But, the longer he takes, I feel, the better for OU.

As for him saying he'd be the instant starter.... that's exactly the type of confidence and leadership this OU team is lacking...

No we don't need an entitled, me first player

When you posted this, had you heard that he tweeted go pokes right after his interview?

weird that a man wants to relive his youth through his son?

seems rather typical to me.

Yes, and it's a twitter game with emojis where you reply to your friends based on THEIR interests. Sadly he had to delete it because people don't understand it and even freak out like you are doing.

Have you watched him play? Or do you just spew your assumption that he's a me first player because of a confident comment he's made? I watched him live last Friday and he's FAR from a selfish player, despite being worlds better than any player on the court. If anything, he had moments where he was too unselfish. I was frustrated for him, but all he did was very calmly go about his business of helping his team win. No attitude, no showboating, no cockiness.

A twitter game? That would be why I don't understand it I guess.

Makes me question his smarts though. Posting that right before bedlam when he is visiting for ou. Seems like another attention grab to me

Trae is a great player and OU would be lucky to have him.

But I don't htink he is coming here...sadly what has helped us in his recruitment will ultimately be the downfall too.

TOO close to home and too familiar.

He doesn't care to be Blake or Buddy v2.

He is more likely to end up in Stillwater with his friends than Norman.

Lawrence is about a done deal

It's really not like that at all. He basically just tweets what he thinks about the person that sent him those emojis. It's nothing and people are making it bigger than it should be

He's good friends with Doolittle too...

Usually those guys were never-beens

Dads that played at a high level are usually not the helicopter type. More laid back

Stop assuming he's an "entitled, me-first" player. Do you have any evidence to support this claim? Because he scores a lot of points for high school team?

There's no reason for anyone to believe he'd be anything other than a team player for whichever teams he plays for.
