Tramel wants Bedlam in the All College

Neutral site games blow...I'm one of the few who wants the RRS to move from the State Fair to campus sites (although I'm aware this will never happen).

I would say dandy don is warming up to sing for the all college, can't see how they are making any $

just a FYI he doesn't want OU/osu to move a conf game to the all college .. he wants it to be a 3rd game every year

Very few arguments in sports are bigger facepalms than moving OU/Texas.

I like the idea of OU and OSU playing a rotating schedule in the All College against Tulsa, ORU and Arkansas. Keep it local. Maybe even throw a Dallas/North Texas area team in for good measure.

Read it as: Don't you know how expensive gas is these days? If only the Sooners and Cowboys played all games in Oklahoma City and not Norman and Stillwater, I wouldn't have to drive as far from The Oklahoman's tower!

I kind of wish it would go back to this as well. Find 8 local teams, and make it a small 2-3 day tournament. Always start with OU/OSU on opposite sides of the bracket. Could also just have a 4 team tourney and do this as well.

Never going to happen, but I would like it to be the same format as the 76 tournament in Calif. 8 teams, everyone gets 3 games, and if you can get them, put OU, OSU, Ark, ORU, TU, Ark State, Missouri State, Louisiana Tech in the tournament every year. Play the tournament in Tulsa at the BOK, maybe over the thanksgiving tournament, and with all of these schools within 5 hour drive, I think we would get a ton of attendance. Tulsan's like me, don't get to see OU or OSU as much without traveling and would go games in Tulsa.

Yeah, it seems unlikely the OKC All-Sports Association would consider moving the All-College to Tulsa.

Also seems unlikely that ESPN would be all that interested in televising such an event.

Though I agree with your first point, I am not sure why ESPN would not be interested in televising a tournament with several marquee programs that could potentially end in an extra bedlam game?

I'm less certain that OU/OSU/Ark would want to be involved. This format would take the place of any other tournies (i.e. Maui, 76 Classic, Preseason NIT). I don't see those teams giving that up.

You're right...All-Sports is NOT moving or sharing All-College with Tulsa.

And the format was changed to meet ESPN requirement and that's why it is the way it is now and they have no interest in the tourney format, which is how it was for many years.

He probably also hopes, secretly, that it gives OSU one extra shot each year at cutting into OU's series lead. At last check, wasn't it still 34 games? I'm sure most OKC media types hate it that OU leads the all-time Bedlam Series record in men's hoops.

If OU, OSU, Arkansas, and Tulsa always played and you added four other teams like SMU, TCU, Wichita State, and some other fairly local team it could be a pretty cool little tournament with a lot of regional interest. The problem with the current format is why pay for the extra ticket when season ticket holders at OU and OSU already get about 20 games a year and the games are usually on TV anyway.
