And for those that doesn't think being competitive in paying talent isn't a bigger factor, to shift sports as an example, remind me of who was in the MLB World Series last year? Two of the highest payrolls in the sport. Despite their two managers continually making some of the biggest boneheaded decisions.

No one is denying that coaching matters. It does. And teams that have the most talent, highest "payrolls"/NIL doesn't always win. Better coaching with our current roster could have probably produced 3-4 more wins this year. The reality is we need more NIL and better coaching.

But Coach K or John Wooden couldn't take a roster in the bottom of the P4 conferences and 1/3 of the top10 to a league championship or Final Four.

And the bigger question is can you get someone like a Coach K or even a Nate Oats from Buffalo (like McCollum) over other top programs with the current commitment. Or lack of it. Yeah, maybe you can get McCollum to buy in what he can get from OU over Drake. But he's going to get calls from other places that will offer a lot more than OU. We're not the only programs interested in a guy like McCollum or other up and coming star coaches.

That's the problem. Can't get a needed coach without NIL and support. And probably can't get NIL and support needed without a coach.

BYU has money but I’d bet that figure is overinflated. That said, they have to pay more to get guys to play there. I’m surprised they’re not investing more in football tho.
