Transfer Portal 2025

John Bol - Ole Miss Rebels Forward - ESPN

Jlynn Counter - Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Guard - ESPN

Khamari McGriff - UNC Wilmington Seahawks Forward - ESPN

The names to watch, according to Lusk... believes we have a real shot at landing Bol (he is a former McDonald's All-American). Also mentioned staff views McGriff as a backup 4 rather than a 5. Nothing was mentioned about the "mystery" player... thinks things should pickup now that the dead period is over.
I'd love to take a flyer on Bol, but does he have a visa? All visas for people from South Sudan were revoked...

So a big tease on the player ... fun.

McGriff is a great backup 4.
Jlynn, I mean, eh. I would rather beef up the front court.
Bol, is 7'2", most likely another project like Yaya but better? 4.1 mpg, 1.1 ppg...tough to tell what you have there.

Yes... mentioned they really see the potential with Bol... just think he needs to add on more weight.

I think Bol could be an excellent rim protector. His offensive right now is probably limited to putbacks and ally oops, etc. But the dude is a shot blocker...something we have lacked since Kuath was here. Having said that, McGriff is probably the better short term bet as far as adding quality minutes for us.

The problem with Wague is that he fouls at a very high rate.

Looking at his season, he averaged .25 fouls per minute. That means 1 foul every 4 mins.

7.8 PF per40

We need bodies if we are relying on him to take more of the responsibility or start.

Rogers and a 2nd big are a must.

I want to clarify this...looking at realGM stats.

If you were to put Wague against all 2,612 qualified players on the stat sheets...

Mohamed Wague would be 2nd in terms of fouls per40. (Only Camaron Tongue fouls at a higher rate)
This assumes he makes zero improvement year over year. That is possible, I suppose.

But he showed some real growth at the of 2024-25. 22.5 mins per game in the last five without any foul-outs. That would’ve been unthinkable earlier in the season.

We definitely need another big man either way.

All of this is true, but I’d also add that when he knew he had to stay on the court and was counted on to play big minutes late in the year he took less risks. So it’s possibly role-dependent, right? If I know I’m counted on for 8-15 minutes a game and no more, and my job is to just come in and provide energy and a spark, I’m probably a lot less worried about fouling. I thought he did a pretty good job of picking his spots late in the season, especially with practically zero depth behind him.

That said, we absolutely need a big.

No interest in Bol. We can't develop more talented bigs, no way he develops enough here to actually help.

Counter would be a perfectly fine 4th or 5th guard, coming off the bench.

McGriff looks like a solid add. Pretty nice PPG number considering the minutes he played.

I wish I weren't so internet challenged, or I would post the picture. Sooner Script on Twitter has a funny picture of Parker Thune as a Ken doll...
if it is on twitter .. just click the bottom right of the post (the share) copy the link and paste it here ..

Obviously, ESPN failed to include "Committed to Oklahoma" for Pack.
Assuming they remain anywhere close to those rankings, it's a huge difference from last offseason, when we didn't land anyone in the top 100, maybe not even top 200, of most portal rankings.
