Prolly fair to give the guy some benefit of the doubt for his shooting considering he had 2 broken wings
He shot 33.7% from 3 in two years at Northern Oklahoma College so I think it's safe to say he's likely an average to below average shooter at this level. I'd definitely think he's better than 25% from 3 though so hopefully he can just get to around 30 or 31% and I think he'd be enough of a threat to attack close outs which appears to be what he prefers doing anyways.

How Fears didn't make it is criminal.
Teams that finish in 14th aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt. The league was historically great, and he did go through a rough stretch in conference play. And while it probably shouldn't matter, some voters are undoubtedly less likely to vote for a freshman when it's a close call.

Idk.. NOC is terrible basketball. I don't think I'd take those stats for anything at all

I don't disagree, but FT% is against air and he was a 76.5% FT shooter at NOC and 76.4% FT shooter at BG. That also indicates an average shooter which I'd think is capable of shooting 30-31% from 3 as a 3rd or 4th scoring option on the floor.

Tre Johnson from Texas made second team. Was he that much better than Fears?

missed this earlier

Hmmm. Going back to Bowling Green tells me that he couldn't get the offer or PT that he was wanting from a P4 program. Tells me more about our lack of interest, and others, and a lack of confidence he could be the player we need post-injury. And we wanted as a bench player only.

IMO, this is good news, especially with the type of other players we're adding.

Maybe Campbell isn't even TJ Maxx, but more like Dollar General in the eyes of the staff.

Yeah… must have told him no. Not terrible decision, we really could use a shooter at that backup 2 guard spot.
c
Good for BGSU, but I think if OU strikes out on whatever else they’ve got going on he may not be back lol
I know at one time, Bowling Green was offering in the $200k range for him to stay. They may have upped the ante a bit with all the P4 interest.

Statistically, yes. I believe he was the leading freshman scorer in the nation, and shot nearly 40 percent from three on significantly higher volume. Fears ended up at 29 percent. Fears had the edge in assists, and (surprisingly) rebounds, but Johnson averaging over 20 pts and shooting 40 percent from 3 is hard to ignore.

I think we have enough shooters.

Pack, Brown, Jones, Dayton, and even Nwankwo are all good shooters. We need a little size and defense with Pack, Brown, and Dayton all being smaller, and not great defenders (my opinion).

Also, might be thinking Aaron Bradshaw from Ohio State could be a center target for us. Lusk recently followed him on twitter.
