Transfer Portal 2027

For sure, I’d think it’d help with his NIL value at OU TBH but again players have to do what’s best for him just like the programs.
1) His brother is going to Tulsa. He may want to join him there.
2) Others have said he has other P5 offers.
3) On the other hand, is he being processed out? I doubt it, but you never know.

In this era, we're doing well to have a player more than two years. Either you're good enough to go pro or to another program for more money, or you have to drop to a lower level.

If he goes, I wish him the best.

I’m all for maximizing the roster if that’s on the table in replacing him but seems like he would obviously be a contributor on next year’s team and is an OU guy.
Different age. Nothing matters but money

I’ve been saying the price goes up every year. Last year it was $8-10 million. This year it starts at $12 million. We are just waiting another year to fire the coach and move on.
Well Nebraska, with a GOOD coach, spent only 4.5 mil supposedly and made the sweet 16 and had the best season of their program ever.. seems like coach >>> NIL

I think it makes sense for pretty much every player to do this. No downside. He also entered the portal last year and came back after negotiating a better deal.
Yup this is all about leverage. He's trying to extort KU for more $. Good for him. Screw KU lol

so if everyone bumps their nil spending by a few $mil....where does that leave our brilliant mr. denny and crown moser.
I hesitate to reference Moser by name but I’d hope the plan is to somehow get OU into the lower end of the competitive level referenced (so $10-12mm).

My base case for next season would then be that there’s not a significant improvement in terms of team strength according to KenPom or other predictive metrics and OU is squarely on the bubble. Regardless of making the tournanment or not, Moser is then fired or leaves.

But the real goal would be to make it clear that OU can be competitive on the NIL side of things and the program has another catalyst with the new arena opening (hopefully lol).

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

I guess Lusk has a transfer thread on Insider. If anyone sees any rumors that seem worthwhile, feel free to share!
Players to watch:

Big guy from Providence

Jerry Easter from USC

Also... mentions big question being whether or not Brown and Scott will be back next season

And also this... "Quick note: Kuol Atak has been heavily tampered with. Most recently by an SEC school, and a good one, who has offered him a starting spot and a large role. That said, I continue to hear OU is in a really good spot when it comes to retaining him. Of the four names — Derrion, Kuol, Dayton, and X — Atak feels like the most likely to return. Not because the others are looking to leave, but because he seems genuinely locked in on coming back."

Appreciate the responses. My guess is that plenty of schools will probably come after X’s dad and if it’s a good program, it’ll be tough to fend them off.

If they can’t retain Brown and then I wouldn’t be surprised if Moser is fired before the end of the year next year. Simply cannot lose one of the better senior guards in the sec.

either way i think it is very likely moser is fired next year

If the step dad wants to leave already, how much more proof do we need that good coaches don’t want to work for PoMo?

shocking that atak prefers to stay and play for a coach who benched him for such long stretches.

I would be pretty shocked if OU could land the same caliber of player.

He was thought to be the best or one of the best PG's in the Portal last year.

And despite some up and down this past season, put up some pretty nice numbers. Not sure we're going to have PG's that have averaged 15+ppg in the SEC or a similar conference lining up to come to Norman.

It's also a matter of retaining SOME continuity. If Moser can't retain Brown and Reid, we should just fire him this summer and let Bob Stoops coach what ever rag-tag roster we can put together for the year. Or give the job to Terry Evans.

That is wild to me.

Wild that a good SEC team would promise him a starting spot. And wild that he wouldn't take it, assuming the money is right.

If Atak is starting for OU next year, we're not Dancing. Bookmark this. Screen shot it. Print it off.

There really isn’t a coach who needs continuity more than Moser. He is a basket case when it comes to finding the right lineup. Happens every year and has cost OU a spot in the tournament 3 times now.
