Transfer Portal 2027

I will take a kid from Louisville who is a former top 35 recruit. Heard some of same stuff about Reid when he transferred last year and I think he ended up doing pretty well w even more room to improve. This kid obviously has the tools, who knows what he can become.

I'm not saying this is the case with Rooths, I haven't followed him enough to know.....but at some point your HS * rating doesn't matter any longer, and you are what your play on the court says you are.

I actually have no concerns that Moser will get more out of this kid. It’s the guard play Moser struggles to coach.

With Rooths you’re betting on the potential. For those hoping he’s a backup — I hear ya, but if he takes the next step he’s not gonna be a backup long, and that’s the way you’d want this to go imo. So I’m not hoping he’s a backup. I’m hoping he becomes a guy who has his motor on all the time & causes matchup problems on offense. And yeah, the numbers on the jumper are bad. As has been discussed on here plenty, those can change in an offseason & I think he’s a good candidate for it. It doesn’t look like it’ll take a whole lot more than reps. Inconsistent minutes can also produce a percentage that isn’t really representative of your abilities, also.

We’ll see. Maybe it ends up underwhelming, but there’s a path to that not being the case.

I like Rooths upside, but he has to improve FT and 3pt shooting. He can't be one of our top 3 targets though.

agree with your point, but I'd rather have a 6'10" guy that is athletic enough or dominant enough at one point to earn a top 35 ranking than filling out the roster with guys not ranked nearly as high who might have started or performed well in a lesser conference.

It seems like those guys struggle with the athleticism of the SEC and top 25 basketball over the course of a season. More upside from a guy ranked top 35.

I don’t think he's coming as a backup.

Alright, a lot of excel charts which I know you all love...so here is the comparison to last year's numbers with some FR and SO number and the Reid comparison thrown in.

per40 numbers:

If he is promised to start, ehhh.

Here are his numbers as just production, not per40:

I should note, the PORPAG generated score I used AI to create, has him as our 2nd best player:

I think comparisons to Davis would be interesting. He seems almost like a direct Davis replacement.

I think he is def Davis replacement. Gonna be our 4 for sure. Brown, Reid, Rooths is not a bad start. Forsythe and Rogers (hopefully as a back up big) as bench guys. Getting a combo guard and starting caliber big is what the main keys have been the whole time

I imagine Moser sees Rooths similar to how he viewed Jalon Moore coming over from GT. Moore's offensive numbers took a pretty sizable jump at OU. Hopefully Rooths can do the same. He is bouncy as hell, fluid, and a pretty good ball handler/distributor at his size. He's also a plus defender. I'll take a wait and see approach here, but hope he can tap into some of his athletic upside

Good. That means I don't have to deal with PoMo much longer.

Any chance they try him at Center? He's a little light, but he has the size/wingspan.
