Transfer Portal 2027

I'm just saying last year you could have made same argument w Reid and that has turned out just fine. Would you have rather had Reid after his year at Bama or Rooths after Louisville? To me its a close comparison. Gotta take chances somewhere.
not a huge reid fan

If people view this guy as a direct replacement for Tae: Davis was a veteran with proven production in the ACC, and left a lot to be desired at OU despite having several good games and showing flashes. This guy isn’t nearly as accomplished walking in the door, and didn’t make much of a jump between his freshman and sophomore seasons. Again, if you are flatout bringing him in as your starter without bringing in other (hopefully better) players … that’s malpractice. If he busts, your season is shot.

Not a replacement for is production. But they literally look like they came from the same mold. Same strengths and weaknesses. Rooths seems to maybe be a better ball handler but highlights are highlights for a reason.

Completely agree here.

Never seen him play, but the little video posted on Rooths looks pretty good. High School at IMG and a couple years at Louisville. He has been playing with and competing against good competition.

Say what you want about Moser's coaching, but he has a good eye for talent. Uzon, Oweh, Fears, Reed, Atak (I think Kirill and Rogers) etc. If he sees a player in Rooths, no reason to doubt him based on his track record in evaluation / recruiting. Particularly considering the budget he has had to work with.

Next Moser learning task - RETENTION skills :) . Seriously, though, you can throw in Moore as well. Let's hope this new guy works out, though to WTSooner's point, there comes a time when the high school rankings no longer mean anything. OU is going to need some major increased contributions from him this coming season.

Agree with both of you on high school rankings. When a guy is halfway through his college career, I think we can stop looking at what people thought he would be two or three years ago and start looking at what he actually is as a college player. Should fans be pumped about signing Jackson Arnold at this point? It’s like looking at someone’s college transcripts … might make sense when deciding whether to hire a kid just out of college, but pretty pointless years down the road when you can look at their actual work history.
