Transfer Portal 2027

Uh ... yes please. Super athlete, good looking jumper, strong handles, and unselfish passer.
Was only 1/17 from 3 on the year. Jumper looks good enough that volume & percentage should increase, though. Almost impossible not to lol

Yikes. I dont want players that aren't at least 33.3% from 3, unless they are a 5 man

Likely back
Brown

Hopefully back
Reid (Should be a priority)
Atak (I kind of doubt he returns)
Forsythe (On a team-friendly deal)
Kirill (Assuming he can get a waiver)

Likely gone
Nwankwo

No idea
Rogers
Hansen
Holst

If Denny really finds a way to provide more NIL spend, we have to sign a legit, frontline big man that has already produced at the Power 4 level. Kirill can be a quality reserve, but nothing more.

I don't worry as much about finding guards who can play as there are a lot of those. I'm interested to see what Mayfield can provide - if anything - next season.

Some guys have a jumper you can work with, though, and he was just a true freshman. Jalon Moore was 4/35 (11%) the season before he came to OU and we had nearly this exact conversation. He followed that up with seasons of 41% and 38% on a much higher volume because they worked it to death. The other tools are at a level where I think you’d take him and put him on a similar plan. Buddy Hield shot 24% from 3 as a freshman, then turned into a flamethrower. We wouldn’t need or expect him to be Buddy, but just get it to average-ish.

I agree... I see this as very accurate depiction of what the roster will look like.

Like you said, we need to put in a major offer for a big time center in the portal. There are lots of quality guards and enough in the portal imo that you don't need to break the bank on one. Go out and spend a couple million on a center if we need to, in Moser's entire run here we have not had a true starting caliber center who could put up double digits on a nightly basis and be a rim protector (unless if you count tanner groves, which i do not). Retain current players, go out and get a center, and then fill the pieces around that is how I would operate.

I think I said this when we were recruiting him, but I'm not sold on Rogers in the SEC. He isn't the most athletic big man. A big man that can't shoot and isn't overly athletic is going to have a hard time in the SEC.

I wouldn't hate moving on form him if we can replace him. Hate to walk away from a young big man, but I'm just really not seeing it with him. If he wants to come back on a cheap deal and fight to get better and get playing time, cool. Probably worth the chance. But if he wants bigger money or is expecting a large role without earning it, I'd let him walk.

I think you push to get Rogers back for a second season. He showed flashes at times. Get him a year of development and see what he can do.
