Transfer Portal 2027

Truth is that nothing is a surprise in this year's portal situation. The majority of OU NIL money is headed to football and rightly so. How can we explain OU having the most Top 300 football recruits in the 2027 class if this wasn't true? Unfortunately, the programs that are needing a cash boost are men's and women's basketball. Neither team is going to have a full allotment of players for next year unless some miracle happens. Hopefully, things will change in the future.

football has a much better coach / program .. and is in the ball park in NIL .. (almost never the highest) ..

bball has the worst OU coach in over 50 years ..

there are like 1,000 guys in the portal, but less than 20 of the top 100 are remaining. We’re in on 1 of those guys. 🤷‍♂️

It’s looking more and more like a lame duck season. Money may be the priority for most players but it’s not the only consideration. All things considered, they don’t want to play for a lame duck coach who hasn’t demonstrated any level of success at his current school.

I strongly disagreed with keeping moser for another season. Whatever the reason, another failed season must be the last straw. There will be no excuses now.

Good thing we didn't ruin the x2 transfers moment.. that would've been embarrassing..

I'm willing to let it play out a little longer, and even if it ends up being a big mistake I'm not saying he can't recover and be a good AD for us, but it's starting to appear that Denny has stuck his foot in his mouth. Referring to our athletic department as "underdogs", then making promises about basketball funding that in the short-term, I'm not sure he can deliver on.

There has to be a plan. I can’t imagine anyone starting a new job at a high profile university and making claims with no basis. I have to believe he made those claims because he was assured the money was there. I think the most logical conclusion is they miscalculated the cost of portal going up 10% when in reality the market increased by 50%.

We may very well have increased our NIL budget to $12 million while everyone else increased to $20 million.

Which is the exact position we have been in every single year. We’ve been behind the game. Until we catch up, we aren’t winning. Doesn’t matter who comes in and coaches.

I do think Tyler Hendricks is a really good bench get. He's long, athletic, good shooter, solid defender, and has an NBA pedigree. Rooths will be a pleasant surprise. He had great metrics for the time on the court but hard to find minutes in a 4 guard lineup at Louisville.

Love locking up Brown, Rogers, and, hopefully, Forsythe and Reid. Solid 6 to start with. But we need SEC starters at 2-3 positions, and scoring.

You have to wonder if Reid is questioning whether he should stick around on this sinking ship. What time is the deadline today?
IF he bounces (I don't think he will), it will be because of that. Folks will say it's NIL, that PoMo is in a bad spot, but if he is leaving on the last day the Portal is open, that isn't a money grab, that's wanting to play on a better team next year.

I agree on both fronts. There haven't been any rumors of him leaving, I just was thinking of how he must feel seeing us struggle this badly to fill our roster.

I really think it will take a miracle for us to have a remotely competitive team next season. We are so far behind where we were last offseason -- and even with the success we had last April, we ended up with a team that lost 9 straight and missed the tourney in a year with a historically weak bubble. If we end up with three or four guys who should depth pieces instead being in our top 6 or 7, it will be ugly. Moser's second season comes to mind.

Except Hoiberg took crappyass nebraska to the sweet 16 with LESS money than us..

Coaching and having a system matters now more than ever and we have neither

completely disagree. just this year we had a great roster and one of the best portal periods. With a good coach, we should have been in the sweet 16
