Transfer portal bigs

Why do we struggle for bigs?
Some posters worry too much about the talent level of ship 11,12 and 13. I like what Lon does with those, BUT in no way is that an excuse for having a hole at the 5 position. You recruit a guy talented enough to play and groom him into a starter, much like a Lattin type. One of those every 2 or 3 years should be expected in a top 20 program. If you need a project to develope to fill a need, you are not doing it correctly.

Having 15 guys counting walk ons is a good thing for practice and the program. Many here will remember past times where there were not 10 guys to practice 5 on 5, often due to injurys. Getting the right guys in those spots like CJ Cole is a blessing.

The Groves brothers who tore up KU in the first round of the tourney are entering the portal.

College sports legit has free agency now. Just the way it is.

I remember plenty of less than 10 suiting up

What about Christian Bishop from Creighton. A little undersized but he’s tough, great finisher, moves well and can defend multiple positions. Solid rebounder too.

Moser needs to put a call into the Eastern Washington kids. Guessing they want to stay closer to home, but that solves our 4 and 5 problems next year. The bigger Groves brother is dang near a mirror image of Krutwig, basketball-wise, with the addition of being a solid 3 point shooter.

OU basketball is proof that that isn't true. Lon is as nice as they come, and we've had a LOT of transfers out (and in) over the last several years.

I'm just not a fan of it. The players are AMATEUR athletes that are supposed to be getting a college education on top of playing college sports (I know, the education has become almost completely unimportant to some). The coaches, this is their career. I'm just not sure how you could hold them to the same standard given that difference.

Am I for giving some players a break when there is a coaching change or some major event at a school? Probably. But transferring b/c you got better and now better schools want you? I'm just not a fan.

I've started seeing you in a whole new light, WT…and I like what I'm seeing.

The transfer portal decreased my enjoyment of college athletics exponentially. It's yet another massive failure by the NCAA. I don't blame the kids at all. I blame the money. The money is ridiculous.

The transfer portal giveth and the transfer portal taketh away ... we need coach moser to make some offers and the transfer portal to do some giveth-ing especially some big guy givething-

I don't understand why the transfer portal would turn someone off.... And I keep seeing all these things that are completely irrelevant.

It's amateur athletics.... So?
They get education..... So?
The school gives them stuff.... So? For a school year

The portal corrects mistakes.... It's hectic at end of season... But guys who got signed by teams and aren't quite on the level to play, can go down.... Guys that got overlooked have an opportunity to go up...

A lot of freshmen also don't even know what they want to major in... so maybe by the time you figure that out you realize you have an opportunity to go to a better academic program for whatever it is you want to study.

When I was a student I transferred from one college to another because the school I was going to literally didn't have what I wanted to major in when I made that decision... So I transferred to one that did.

I have yet to see a compelling and unselfish reason why this is a bad thing.

Kessler to Auburn. Not that I thought we were ever in the running. He was going to stay in the SE in my opinion.
