Sitting with James Fra and Mr Buddy Hield.

Good to hear. I doubt James and Buddy would be hanging with Trae if he was a lost cause for the Sooners.

Question: I didn't know James was still in Norman. Is he a GA or something? I always liked his positive energy and the players all seem to like him.... even some of the football players.

I'm pretty sure he just came back to visit. Not sure exactly what he is doing now. Seems to be going wherever he wants, not really working. But maybe he just doesn't like to talk about what he does now. He just only mentions seeing different friends and such on Twitter.

Today was the first day coaches could go see 2017 recruits.
7am OU coaches were with Trae.

It won't be for lack of trying.

There 4-5 Oklahoma kids in the rivals 150 this year.

5 if you count Lindy Waters

Lon is taking the next step ( Get the stud Oklahoma kids). Billy Tubbs did not miss out on too many Oklahoma kids.

I was a big Billy Tubbs fan, but he missed out on his fair share of top-level in-state talent. Mark Price, Brent Price (initially), Steve Hale, Lee Mayberry and Byron Houston were all top-40 high school players from in-state. I'm sure there were others he missed out on as well, but those stuck out to me.

Billy and Kelvin both signed and lost their fair share of top-level in-state talent. I doubt it will be any different with Lon.

That being said... Theres not really anything you can do. Lots kids want to leave Oklahoma and see the country. Not a lot you can do about that.

Other than Trae Young (going to Duke) and Manek, not sure OU is recruiting any other Oklahoma kids in the 2017 class. Will be interesting to see who in the 2018 class they target, as many as 7-8 D1 players in that class.

For sure a chance to go to Duke.. But 2 5 star PG are in front of him. Trae is elite for sure, but thats a lot of talent to beat out.

A key may be how long Trae wants to wait.

Some of his high end offers may not be there when he decides, if he drags his recruiting out too long.

Hope he is a Sooner but I understand him wanting to find his way out of state.

yes, this is more accurate. Hardly any of Billy's teams had more than 1 OK high school stud. He had Wayman and Choo at the same time and then he recruited Flowers to play with King but Flowers flunked out so King was the only good OK HS player on those teams. Then his last few years he had Evans (who wasn't highly recruited), Webster and Brent Price though Price was a transfer from South Carolina.

And Richard Dumas.

Kruger and staff. We always talk about it but he always has a backup plan. He went and saw 2 other PG prospects today. 2017 kids.
If young doesn't work out.

What if we get jerreau? Hard to think Young would consider us then.

If we were fortunate for both of them to come then I would see them starting together, but Trae wouldn't be the point imo.

That would mean starting over Odomes. I dont see that happening. but you never know.
