When I watched the Kansas State game, I was rather fascinated by the officiating in comparison to what we had seen in the Paradise Jam. It almost too brass knuckles to get a foul called. The North Texas/OU game was quite a bit different from anything that we had seen. There was a lot of let them play. With 17 fouls on OU and 21 on North Texas, they did call a few fouls, but they were fairly lenient.
I saw North Texas described as athletic. OK. I guess that the average offensive guard is athletic in some aspects, but I don't know that he has the agility to move on a basketball court nor the ability to shoot. North Texas is not a good team, nor are they likely to become one until they get some people who have spent more time learning to handle a basketball. They did get us into their game, probably because we didn't take anything about this game seriously.
After a while, you just watched Sherri lean back and watch with an amused contempt. She had tried to get them to play basketball, and nobody really did. They actually played basketball for about six minutes in the first half. The fist eight to ten minutes in the second half were so inept that you just had to look at our veterans and wonder what they had on their minds today. If it hadn't been for Nicole and LaNesia, there wouldn't have been anyone on the court that looked like they cared. Well, McKenna didn't do badly, just not well. Between Peyton and Kaylon, you really didn't want the ball in their hands. I don't know who either were throwing passes to. Sometimes, you wanted to stop just to ask them what they were thinking.
When Kaylon made an outlet pass straight to a North Texas player with no OU player within ten feet of the spot where the pass landed, who was she throwing it to? Did she think we were in the white? When Gioya drove nicely into the middle and threw a no-look pass directly to the only player in the lane, a North Texas guard, with no OU player within fifteen feet, who was she throwing it to? It's not like they were picking off passes by stepping into passing lanes. We were just throwing the ball to them.
I'm always surprised when an experience ball handler dribbles the ball off of their foot--Peyton. Gabbi---you should be benched the next time you dribble across midcourt and pick up the ball. You get trapped every time---every time. Where did you learn to do that? Why can't you unlearn it?
This past weekend, OU played some pretty good basketball against some pretty good teams, winning two of three(I refuse to accept the nonsense that the official gave to Kentucky). I have no idea what happened yesterday in Denton. I guess that it is difficult to take anything too seriously in Denton. They didn't.
Wonder what they'll do in Little Rock?
