Twitter Facts - Recruiting Impact

As someone who has been in the communication field for 40 years, if you don't think our girls and recruits aren't checking Twitter. Snapchat, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube and even the old person's social media home, Facebook, 10 or 20 times a day, then you don't know crap about today's kids.

These kids want to feel important and like they are special and they are communicating constantly.

Sybarite and OU Girl, let's play the "what if" game. Let's say, "what if" this Twitter business is of no consequence on recruiting. Then how do you all explain these/this:

•No Big 12 title since 2009, after OU won six in the first decade of this century.

•No top-20 finish since 2010, after the Sooners had 10 top-20 finishes from 2000-11.

•No Sweet 16 appearance since 2013, after OU had nine Sweet 16 appearances from 2000-13.

•Home attendance decline for five straight years, down to 4,200 last season, a precipitous drop from a high of 10,253 in 2007-08

Since the Paris twins and friends Graduated Sherri hasn't been successful... it's almost like we got spoiled to what could have been but, things are not looking good. The talent gap between OU Baylor and Texas is obvious and it's going to be a up hill climb back to a top 2 finish in the big 12... Aquira DeCosta recently said she wants to go to a program that she can win at, I'm sure she's not the only recruit who views OU as a non winner... right now OU isn't in on a single top 10 recruit for 2018 we could have 2 more down years before things get better.
Most taken directly from the Tramel article in this mornings DO.

It sounded like Berry is aware of the status of the program and I'm sure others are as well... only time will till if/when a change will be made.

Have to say it again..things will remain about the same maybe a step backwards. S.C. best days are behind her. I know it and most on here knows it too, some just doesn't want to admit it. But the ones in charge doesn't seem to care and from the looks of attendance fans don't care much anymore. IMO this is a perfect example of a program that's not going anywhere.

We shouldn't compare recruiting football players with recruiting women basketball players. What make you successful in one doesn't mean it works in the other.

In my opinion, developing a relationship with girls when they are younger is more important. On the other hand, the boys know that their senior year will provide all the coverage from recruiting gurus, trips, all star invitations and tv announcements. In this environment, social media is much more important.

Most of people don't know **** about messaging, promotion and persuasion techniques.

Hearing from a "team" account and hearing from the "coach" personally is not anywhere near the same thing and simply doesn't have the same impact, particularly on young people. It is far more persuasive to hear from the horse's mouth instead of the horse's ass.

SOUG,
Did you even read the twitter post and look at the attached picture.

Bob took a selfie of himself watching the OU golf team and posted it online. He uses social media outside of his recruiting role. To deny otherwise, you might as well join the flat earth society or deny gravity exists.

Maybe I took that picture and posted it for him. ;);)

He laughed at the reporter a while back and said he NEVER used social media. Perhaps he has changed recently, but it is still what he said - not that long ago - maybe 2 or 3 months ago.

It is not something I wish to keep arguing about unless someone who thinks he is addicted to social media - and spends hours a day on it to personally communicate with the world - wants to go find that quote and explain why he was lying about that in order to produce "fake news".
