***Two surprise visitors at the LNC today***

.... With the roster that we have, what would you do different?? Serious question.

So, who's fault is it that the roster isn't filled with talent?

At some point, you Capel defenders need to face reality and admit he's at fault for the lack of talent. He didn't inherit this roster. He didn't inherit a crappy basketball program. He's done this all by himself and now he's got to pay the piper.

I would play Newell and Neal. If OU is going to lose by 18, why not play more players to see what newell and neal can contribute to the team?

I hope OU lands Cezar because it sounds like he is more talented than any point guard on OU's roster.

aTm's backup PG, Holmes, is more talented than any PG on our roster.

I'm facebook friends with Philip Jurick. He just posted an hour ago "bringing yee to Oklahoma" which I assume he means that's he coming here next year!!!

We're definitely efforting to contact both. Hopefully we'll have something by tomorrow.

LOL...what's awesome, Sam? That your picture is in the OP? LMAO.

Just kidding...this is very good. I think both could definitely upgrade our talent.

LMAO, are you the type of guy who just enjoys being involved in the internet drama? Because based on this post and others you seem to love being the center of attention and involved in these fights.

I mean whats the purposes of this post beside trying to insite me into a debate (aka drama) or the need to attempt to be funny and bring attention to yourself.

Grow up Booger.

I'm still mystified how jmizzy's question about what others would do differently in terms of in-game coaching became "So, who's fault is it that the roster isn't filled with talent? Is this a trick question, or do we really needed someone to beat that thought into our heads even if we're discussing a different topic?

I will answer it because it has been answered ad nauseum on other posts.

Force your team to buy into offseason conditioning.
Play better tough defense
Rebound better

Offensively, choose a system. Go high tempo off other team misses (hard to do when bad defensively). Or. Work the inside put game much more effectively and run your offense through entry passes to Fitz with guards cutting to the basket, not waiting to jack threes they can't make.

Capels idea of high tempo means forcing a good shot early in the shot clock, that is bad news for a bad team. When your bad you need to find a way to create points in transition off of misses or go the other route and run an offense and minimize the opponents possessions with a methodical offense.

Capel ran the same system with BG, his elite 8 team even was actually pretty bad at getting the ball inside to Blake and working inside out. Blake scored quite a few points because he is Blake.

Why is this exciting? This is a guy that was told to knave UT because he would never see playing time ( something capel should have tried). Signed with UTC, failed to make grades there and now is at Chatt State. Seriosuly? There are kids that can play and actually have character? He may turn put to be good, but why would anyone be excited about this guy?

I get being excited about Guerro, but Jurick? Really?

Not trying to debate just having fun. Maybe you should lighten up although had we won I'd imagine it wouldn't have offended you as much. It's just a game.

The comment was made because some capel defenders don't want to admit capel has any blame for this mess. Well, guess what? It's all his fault.

Mizzy didn't like the critique of capels gameplan so he asked what is he supposed to do? Well since he got us into this mess we are going to criticize him.

I don't get the loyalty to capel by some posters on this site. I get supporting your coach but to defend his record is beyond words. I get the feeling some think capel is the best we can get and that's ridiculous. We had 3 great coaches in a row with Bliss, Tubbs, and Sampson. Macleod before them so OU can attract good coaches when they aren't trying to go on the cheap.

Who doesn't blame Jeff Capel for this mess? Some of you just love to pluck things out of the sky. I defend him when these "revisionist theory" posts are spewed all over the place, which in turn make us look like a neophyte hoops fan base (maybe we are). You know, like how "awful" OU was in Jeff's first year and how "mediocre" they were in Year 2...or nonsensical posts which tear him apart for a 30-point NCAA Tournament 2nd round loss when the previous coach went 1-6 in 1st round games (lower than a top 3 seed). I also don't respect posters who are never on here after a victory, but can't shut up after a loss.

Anyway, I hope Coach Capel can land Guerrero. Like others pointed out, he at least knows by now that he won't be sitting on the bench as a freshman.

Wrong BOB...... 1st of all, I was asking a serious question. I never said that I didn't like the critique of Capel's gameplan, I was seriously asking others what would they do different with THIS ROSTER?? That was all that I was asking. Not who we should or shouldn't have signed, who we should or shouldn't have kept, etc. I was simply asking what could be done different with this roster.

2nd: As hard you and some others try to make it be so, I will never be on one side or the other. I explained it in another thread. I can see the problems with team as well or better than other posters can. I wil never be a poster who sits around bashing ANY of our coaches. I will always seek to find the positives, and support OKLAHOMA UNIVERSITY. I supported Bliss until he left, Tubbs, Sampson, and now Capel. When the admin who makes alot of money to make moves decides to make one, I will support whoever they decide to sign as our next coach. That is just the way I attack life in general. I see nothing good coming from flooding every thread and every post with my negative beliefs about why we are in this shape.

I love OU Sports, and I will always love them, win or lose. I believe in my heart that our current admin is smart enough to know when to pull the plug on someone. Until they do that, I will support the current staff because they coach the University that I love.

3rd: I have no problems with the posters who want to honestly discuss OUr problems, and what OUr coach has done well, and not so well. What bothers me is when you cannot say anything positive without the same 5 to 10 posters who flood the board with the same monotone attacks. The same thing happened during the end of the Sampson era, and it made the board a miserable place. I mean come on, you yourself have attacked Capel for listening to R&B with his players.:facepalm I have also seen some criticize him for keeping in touch with recruits that we don't sign. What is wrong with that???? I listen to R&B, and it has done nothing to hurt me. Would it be ok if he listened to country with his players?? How about Classical music?? It just reeks of personal biases IMO.

In summary, you can try and place me on one side of the fight or the other, but you will fail. There are alot of things that I believe Capel has done wrong. There are many things about OUr current team that make me sad/angry, but as long as he is the coach, I will support him, until I learn that he is doing something illegal or unethical to negatively impact the lives of OUr young players. From all that I know/hear, Capel is a pretty positive influence on the lives of the players, even listening to R&B.....:facepalm

Does everything have to be a firing squad at Capel. We all agree mistakes have been made, but a recruiting thread isn't the place to hash it out.

No DM, every thread has to be a firing squad at Capel with these people. Didn't you know?

I agree, DM.

Allow me to get this thread back on topic. If watching this Guerrero highlight video doesn't do it, nothing will:
