I just saw he is a head coach in the NBA. Pretty impressive because he is young.

All it takes is becoming great friends with an NBA player who has a damaging amount of influence, his extremely powerful agent, and have a largely dysfunctional organization be the one hiring you.

Lebron got the guy he wanted. Don't know much about this coaching move but they are going to sink or swim with it. The Cavs don't look so hot right now just after the transition.

Former Nebraska Cornhusker. I bet there aren't many NBA players from Nebraska. Lue and...Piatkowski? Anybody else? I can't think of anyone.

Update: Forgot about Mikki Moore. After a google search found out that a total of 9 guys from NU played in the league.

Lou is an impressive young man with lots of smarts. He learned the coaching game from Doc Rivers, Phil Jackson etc. Dont judge, he got his act together and he knows the game. Do you?

Directed at me? I never said he wasn't impressive. He is. I was just commenting on him coming from the Nebraska basketball powerhouse, lol. And at least I know how to spell his name.

I remember him when he played at Raytown HS here in the KC area. Very good HS player and pretty good player at Nebr. I don't know all the politics behind the move (but there must be some) but good luck to him.

Danny Née coached for a number of years and had several NBA players including Lue, Erick Strickland, Eric P, Hamilton. Dave Hoppen played under Moe Iba and was an NBA center for a dozen years.

Yep, they had a decent number of players in the league, especially since their basketball program has always been an afterthought. I remember the Danny Nee years well.

Perhaps but neither of us were able to do it. The guy is not even 40. I am impressed.

It's unfair to Lue to say that he's an NBA coach simply because of LeBron James.

Lue was a highly respected assistant in the league long before going to Cleveland. He was a finalist for the Cavs job when they hired Blatt. Upon hiring Blatt, the Cavs made Lue the highest-paid assistant in the league...and this was all before they knew LeBron was coming back to Cleveland (the Cavs wouldn't have hired Blatt in the first place if they thought they were getting LeBron).

It was only a matter of time before Lue was going to get a head coaching job, in Cleveland or elsewhere.

Lue should be getting his feet wet somewhere else first. The main reason he's coaching that team is because LeBron runs it. He runs that whole organization. He likes Lue and Lue will conform to his style of play more so than Blatt did. Blatt never had LeBron's ear.

I wouldn't know any of that. I just think Lou has had an impressive career. He goes to Nebraska and has a very solid college career. Then he plays in the NBA for several year. Then he is an NBA coach and at 38 he is an NBA head coach.

I say well done to the man and I was just happy to see a former Big XII player have some success. I always remember watching these guys and it is really nice to hear the success stories rather than former player X went to jail for domestic violence or drugs.

Who was the 7' footer they had in the late 90's that played in the NBA? Big tall white guy.

EDIT: Rich King is who I was thinking of and he played early 90's.

Can you imagine the crap you'd witness daily if you were a fly on the wall in Cleveland? Inmates 100% run that asylum.
