Juco guard from Crowley Community College originally from Stringtown, Oklahoma.

Per Bossi

Should prove to be a very good shooter for them, probably off the bench considering the guards they have on roster already. Mcgee and Demarcus Phillips (both juco guys) will probably man the point guard spot for them.

ISU will be loaded at the guard spots next year with Demarcus Phillips, Chris Allen (Michigan State transfer), Chris Babb (Penn State transfer), Melvin Ejim, Scott Christopherson, and now Tyrus Mcgee.

He's not a shooter. He's a slasher and get hacked kind of guy. A poor man's Corey Brewer?? DM, what say you?

In high school he reminded me of a shorter Bobby Maze. He attacked the rim alot. I thought he was the best player at Stringtown and that's including Watson, Washington, and the two Browns. My fear was that he couldn't translate that game to the college level. Now he could have developed a shot in his year at Juco. If so, will it transition to the next level is the question. Juco ball is kinda like a glorified pick up game. Not alot of offensive discipline and certain players get the green light, especially guards. He's quick though. Not Calvin Newell quick, but still quick.

He is one of the most interesting kids I have seen come through the high school ranks in years.

I don't know that he has done anything to warrant the expectation or opinion that he is going to be anything other than a decent college player, but there is just something about the kid that is intriguing.

If you have seen him play, you know he is a flyer and very very tough. Decent handles and decent shooter. I think there is a chance he ends up being a lot better than most think and a really good D-1. We'll see. I think he is a taller Daunte Swanson, and could really evolve as a shut down defender.

In any event, always good to see Okies get a shot at their dream. Hope he plays well against everyone but OU.

Not a shooter? The guy shot about 60% from the 3pt line over his last nine games, and shot 44% from back there on the year (with 80 made).

-------------------------------------
The 6-foot-2 freshman was second on the team in field goal percentage (50 percent), and first in free-throw percentage (82.1 percent). He led the team in three pointers made (80), while shooting a team-best 44 percent behind the arc.

He played his best basketball down the stretch. Over the last nine games, McGee averaged 22.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and shot 57 percent (34-of-60) from three-point range.

Swanson is a much better comparison! Doesn't have the handles of Reid, but Swanson is almost spot on.

All of these are opinions of people who have actually seen him play. In high school he was far from a shooter. If he developed his game in juco than that is a plus. However, there is a huge difference from being a shooter in juco or HS and coming to the next level. Ask Omar Leary. In fact, great shooters like Clarke and Page didn't shoot the ball like they did in High school. Plus if you look at defense in juco ball, it leaves alot to be desired. Look at the early season scores and you'll see high point games by all teams.

Sounds like a program changer, huh abd?

I said he would be a nice role player off the bench, lol.

I will pay you a small stipend if you will go around to other boards and talk up our guys. You are master of your craft.

I still have nightmares regarding the day that Junior Treasure will come ball all over us in the LNC.

Indeed I am.

As for the stipend to pimp OU players, I do enough of that here.

So you don't think he is a good player? Don't think he can have a good game against a transfer from New Orleans or a true freshman?

funny

Im not saying either of those guys wont be good, because I think they will be. I think Newell is going to be fantastic. But to mock a proven senior because he plays for Texas Southern is a little short-sighted.

I was just posting some pre-season games to watch out for, and did Texas Southern and ORU. Whats wrong with that? A young OU team should watch out for veteran clubs like that in the non-conference schedule.

I just think it's funny that you bedowngrade OU players to make another player look good in the same post that you say that you pimp OU players "enough" around here.

Ok, I hadn't looked at his JUCO numbers. I am impressed. I was basing my "not a shooter" judgement on watching him in high school. Looks like he has developed a little stroke, but I think DM is spot on with JUCO to the next level Omar Leary stuff. I think the kid will be a nice role player, he is a very good athlete that has the potential to be a very good defender. I think he will get his points off drives and weakside put back kind of stuff (think Thabo).

Bedowngrade? I said a true freshman and a transfer from New Orleans. Is that not what they are?

I like how you play innocent every time someone calls you out. You obviously meant those in a derogatory manner. If Blair had transferred to any school other than OU, you would be pimping him as the second coming.

Eh...

You obviously meant those in a derogatory manner.

Ok, I didn't say anything derogatory about them and just said what they are, to make a point to bigtime that maybe OU doesnt have a guy thats just gonna dominate this senior point guard who is pretty darn good. No disrespect to Calvin or Carl, but in the 3rd game of the season they will get a test from this guy. That is all I was trying to say....

In a thread about the most important players coming to OU this year, I had Carl Blair #1. Link: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16511&highlight=Carl+Blair

In a thread bigtime started, I said Blair is a huge piece of the puzzle. Link: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16453&highlight=Carl+Blair

In a thread started by me called "More Than Enough Talent To Win", I pimp the pg's: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15961&highlight=Carl+Blair

In a thread about OU's starting lineup for next year, I pimp Blair: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15825&highlight=Carl+Blair

In this thread, I give OU's class a B in recruiting and pimp the two point guard signees: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15837&highlight=Carl+Blair

Are you done with your witch hunt to prove who is a good and bad fan? :facepalm

I think you have me confused with someone else. Anyone that supports the team is a fan in my book. I just think you're funny. I appreciate your descriptions of other teams, I just wish you would not do it at the expense of OU players. You can say that you didn't mean your comments in a derogatory manner, but it sure came off that way.
