in a very sloppy and ugly game. The refs totally took both teams out of any kind of flow in the 2nd half...basically calling every foul they thought they saw.

Happy for Roy Williams....have always liked him. And it gnaws at KU fans that Roy has won 3 titles since he left rock-chalk land......which is nice.;)

Tar Heels were just a tiny bit better overall. Both teams have plenty of talent and good coaching.

Was a good game to watch, but would have been a great game had the refs let them play. Really took a lot of joy out of the game with all those unnecessary stoppages. Can't say I agree with UNC being the better team. If Goss doesn't get hurt late, and Collins doesn't foul out, I can't see UNC winning that game. UNC benefitted more from the quick whistles.

Does anyone know what conference these refs were from? I kept saying they really fit the bill of Big 12 officiating.

I thought the officials did a good job in the first half. I was even prepared to start a thread giving them props if it had continued.

Unfortunately, that changed in the second half when the entire crew decided they weren't getting enough air time. The second half was definitely not championship caliber officiating. Too many whistles on the same contact they ignored in the first half, some of them questionable at best. When the best players from both teams are on the bench in foul trouble because the officials choose to be part of the outcome, that's never a good thing.

That was a pretty big blown call with Meeks being out of bounds on that crucial tie up late in game with UNC up 1

Yes, it was. I couldn't believe the officials failed to review that play. Meeks was clearly out of bounds by a foot or more. No way they should have missed that call.

Yeah and Pinson didn't tip the ball on Matthews 3, Berry didn't foul Karnowski, Karnowski didn't flagrantly foul Berry. Tons of missed/bad calls to close out the 2nd half. At least the last 2-3 minutes they finally let the teams play a little bit.

not as bad as the "tip ball" that wasnt and Zags hit a 3.

With Karnowski having a bad day, Collins' foul trouble was huge. I don't believe the refs set out to screw Gonzaga over, but that was the biggest casualty of the overaggressive (and just kinda bad) officials.

The refs were lousy for both sides.

One of the officials was Tom Eades, he does Big 12 games.

The play where the UNC player fouled him on the 3 (not called) and they called a tipped ball instead?

Yeah. No one saw a foul. Im looking for a video to double check. Pretty clear missed call.

The Big 12 official you're talking about, Tom Eades, is an older guy with white hair. The official in last night's game was Mike Eades (not sure if they're related?).

I have never seen any member of that crew before. But, they're receiving a lot of criticism in the national news and on social media, and rightly so. One of the articles I saw said 27 fouls were called in the second half alone.
