But I always hold out hope for a potential miracle.

Looking at potential Big 12 Tourney brackets, I almost wish OU would stay in that 10 seed. With a win, we'd likely get WVU in round two, a team I think we match up pretty well against. Next would be the ISU/TCU winner. I think that path to the championship would be easier than KU in round two, and then playing the Baylor/OSU winner.

You never know.....luck your way to the championship game, anything can happen in one game. I'd feel better if that one game were against somebody other than KU, which is possible.

I know it's not likely to happen, either, but what a boost that would be heading into next year!

Hoping for a miracle as well!

I caught myself looking at the standings and considering the possibility of a miracle. It's very unlikely and the best we can hope for is probably 1 won... especially if we play KU on day two, which is likely. But hey it'd be fun if we could go on a run... here's to hoping for a run!

I know this is not going to happen because we are playing Kansas at the Phog, but if OU can win out and the following happens we could get a 7th seed.

Iowa State wins out, Kansas State wins out, Texas beats Tech.

If this happens Iowa State would also be the 2 seed in the tourney with WV and Kansas State playing in the 3 vs 6 seed game. This would probably be the most friendly road to the championship.

No way do I want OU at the 10 seed. I'm thinking we get our 11th win on Saturday at home against TCU on senior night, and win our first B12 tourney game. I don't care who we play next.

Agree.

Get wins when you can.

Where did I say I want OU to lose?

It's a longer shot of dropping to 10 if OU beats TCU, but I think it can still happen.

Just saying, the road to the championship game appears easier to me as the 10 seed, as opposed to the 9 seed.

Yes it's definitely easier as the 10, I thought you were suggesting you'd rather OU lose the next 2 to get to the 10 seed.

You never said you wanted OU to lose...... but no way do I want Texas to finish ahead of us in the conference standings..... leaving us in last place.

Also, I think OU has a slight edge in the tiebreaker for 9th place. We beat WVU but Texas beat ISU. They're tied for 2nd place now but play the last game against each other in Morgantown. WVU beat them in Ames. If WVU beats them at home we gain the tiebreaker advantage.

I also think OU will beat TCU in Norman on Saturday, so the only way Texas will pass us is to win their last 2 games (at TT, and home against Baylor). I can't root for Texas to win any game.

That's my warped logic....

I like the fact that we are rotating 10 players. That should help with avoiding fatigue.

1.) We win out.
2.) TCU loses to K-State, us.
3.) Tech loses to Texas, K-State.

Boom, we have the 7 seed. Long shot but let's get it started tonight. :ez-laugh:

I just don't see us winning close games. No one is going to lay down. We will battle but we don't know how to win.

We can still get the 10th seed though. If Texas beats Tech tonight and Tech beats K State on Saturday, of course, with the assumption we win Saturday. If this all plays out then the K State vs TCU game would decide the 7th seed. If TCU wins we play tech and if K State wins we would play TCU. Not sure who I would like more on that match up.

Looking a little a head: whoever wins the WVU vs Iowa State game Saturday decides the 2 seed.

Who would you all like to face more as the 7th seed and (if we win the opening) the 2nd?

We mathematically can't get the 7th seed. The most wins we can get are 5. There are already 7 teams with at least 6 wins. TT has only 5 wins so we could could tie them in wins if they lose both their last 2 games, but they get us on tiebreaker rules. We split so the team with a win against the highest placed team in the final B12 final standings gets the 8th seed. We both beat WVU but they beat Baylor. They get the 8th seed no matter what happens.

The highest possible finish for OU is the 9th seed.

Right, so assuming that Kansas is the hardest team to beat. It would be in our favor to be the 10th seed. So hopefully what I said above happens for that to be our best case. That is, with us winning against TCU.

It could happen. Texas plays in Lubbock tonight, and in Austin against Baylor on Saturday. Win both of those and they're the 9th seed. If we finish the season tied, then the 9th seed is determined by the WVU/ISU winner in Morgantown on Saturday. If ISU wins on the road, then Texas is in.

I don't want to finish last in the conference no matter who we would face in the second round of the B12 tournament. I just don't think it matters.

Definitely understand your point on finishing last. That would be rough. However, I know its speculation, but I think I would rather not play a team that is basically playing at home (kansas) in the second round. Not sure whats better for the confidence finishing 9th or have a greater likelihood of going farther in the big 12 tourney and winning a couple of games. Definitely all guesses at this point, but I think the odds of us going further in the big 12 tourney would be the 7th or 10th seed. I am never going to wish for us to lose against TCU to get the 10th seed. Rather hoping all of that plays out for it to happen.
