It could happen. Texas plays in Lubbock tonight, and in Austin against Baylor on Saturday. Win both of those and they're the 9th seed. If we finish the season tied, then the 9th seed is determined by the WVU/ISU winner in Morgantown on Saturday. If ISU wins on the road, then Texas is in.
I don't want to finish last in the conference no matter who we would face in the second round of the B12 tournament. I just don't think it matters.
Does it really matter that we end up finishing 9th instead of last? I don't think it's just gonna devastate the players at this point. And while a tournament run seems very unlikely, we aren't a typical last place team from past big 12 tournaments. We aren't an automatic win and pushover. Besides maybe 2 big 12 games, we have been in the lead or at least within a couple points in every game home or away. So if we can avoid playing Kansas in what is another home game basically, I would like to see that opportunity happen. But like others have said, I don't want that to come at the expense of us losing Saturday.
