UT better at every position - Not even close

Okay Capel said we are 2 players away basically a couple of weeks ago. Really? not. We don't have a player that is in UT's top 7 or 8. Look at Cade Davis face tonight says it all, OU players have zero confidence. I don't remember a Sampson team ever waving the white flag like this at home. We are bending over and not even fighting it.

This is brutal.

It has probably been said already but UT is very good and might be a final four team. Jordan Hamilton is outstanding. Triston Thomas is outstanding. Those are two of the better players in the conference. Corey Joseph, Jcovan Brown, Dogus Balbay, and Gary Johnson are all good. Matt Hill, Wangmene and Lucas are all nice bench players. UT has a very good 9 man rotation.

Barnes is one of the best coaches out there..he has shown that over and over.

I dont know that he should be called a great coach until he wins a NCAA championship. He didnt exactly light the world on fire as coach last year.

Agreed. The guy has been loaded with talent for the last several yrs. If anything they underachieved, IMO. I remember many of the jokes that circulated on the old hoops board, were about how Sampson owned Barnes because he was a much better coach.....

He has gotten better with his game planning. With this group, he should go far in the tourney, IMO.

Texas could win a national championship this year... they are that good. Of course they are better all over the floor than OU.

Fitzgerald may not be an NBA prospect...but how can you not be happy that he will be on this team for 2 more years.

OU has some nices pieces returning. Fitzgerald, Pledger, Blair, Clark, Neal and Washington have all done some nice things this season. The key is OU needs Osby to be a star player (all Big XII level), Goff needs to be an All Big XII level defensive player (he doesn't have to do anything but rebound and defend) and OU needs another gaurd. If they get that, they will be competitive. Washington and Neal will give respectable minutes off the bench. I really like what I see from Neal as a true freshman. I think he will be a really good player by the time he is senior.

OU doesn't have any players that can create their own shot besides Blair. How many years until OU can beat texas in hoops?

Agreed. I like Neal and hope he plays a lot the remainder of the season. He can't redshirt so we might as well prepare him for next year.

I wish we could find a Corey Brewer type, a 2 guard who can shoot from the outside, take it to the rack and make free throws, and an inside defensive presence like a Jabahri Brown.

I disagree. Clark can create his own shot, but for some reason he has seemed intimidated the last 2 games. Either that, or maybe he thought he had arrived after the Baylor game? I think it's time for Capel to start figuring out how to push his buttons because he has a lot of talent but needs somebody to help get it out of him.

Fitz can create his own shot, but he's not a ball handler. If he gets the entry pass though, more than likely something good is going to happen.

I think Neal will be able to create his own shot, too.

I didn't see the ISU game so I'm not sure how Pledger scored all of his points, but we really need him to be more aggressive on offense.

It is easy to look good against bad defensive teams such as Iowa State. OU doesn't even know how to set good screens to help out the guards. Last night against texas, OU couldn't free up many players because nobody could set a good screen.

I am talking about OU's guards lack of ability to create their own shots. If you pressure them they struggle. This has been a weakness for many years, not just this team.

I don't disagree with the first paragraph. I think it's spot on. I would also agree other than the wide open 3, I haven't seen Pledger create his own shot much, but again, I didn't get to watch the ISU game so maybe I missed something. Blair can get to the rack some, but he's so poor at shooting the rock it wouldn't matter if he created his own shot. I think Newell could create his own shot, but he seems to make dumb fouls and doesn't get much time to show what he can do.

Agreed... This mirrors what I was saying last week after the Ok. State game.

Frustrating to see Clark be so passive at times because of his immense talent. But that's not too shocking I suppose given he's a freshman. I'm expecting the more experience he gains the higher the confidence. We'll see.

Somebody needs to make him mad so he starts playing with a little more passion/anger. He seems like a really good kid, so he probably doesn't get upset much and it's probably hard to get him upset, but some buttons have to be pushed that's for sure.

I like the look of our team. I see 1 senior and a bunch of underclassmen competing til the end. I just hope that the guys will learn from Davis and what he's doing as a leader. Hopefully someone will step up and lead this team next year.

As for Texas...we could easily be better than them next year if they have a bunch of early departure.
