This commentary is on the women's board. Very Insightful.

"There are endless things to say about the ongoing developments at Baylor, and with many facts still missing, it’s hard to say anything utterly definitive, but I felt like it was worth sharing a quote from a former high school football coach that claims to have known Art Briles on a personal level for decades:

'This day has been decades in the making. All the shady, vile, amoral attitude and behavior of Art Briles' "win at any cost" philosophy has finally caught up to him. He's been racking up a debt against Karma for years and now the bill has finally come due. You reap what you sow, Art. You reap what you sow. This day is for the high school kids you tacitly encouraged to inject poison into their bodies. This day is for the high school kids whom you openly encouraged to play dirty in order to intimidate the opposition. This day is for the high school kids who suffered severe dehydration and needed hospitalization because you prevented air conditioning in the visitor's locker room in order to gain a competitive advantage. This day is for the high school coaches who had to put up with game film missing entire offensive series of your teams so you'd have a competitive advantage. This day is for the high school coaches who you refused to shake hands with after they upset you and ended your winning streak. This day is for the college coaches who had to put up with your false allegations of recruiting violations when you didn't get the kid you wanted. This day is for the college kids who you blocked their transfer when they wanted to be closer to their ailing parents and siblings. This day is for the college kids whom you enabled to continue to do bad things at the expense of learning accountability and integrity so you could continue to win games. But mostly, this day is for the young women whose lives were destroyed by your lack of morality, humanity, and decency. This day is the end of your career on the sidelines. And if you stop to listen, you can hear above the anguished cries of self-righteous indignation from your cult of Baylor fans in Waco the sweet, melodious chorus of justice from heaven's angels. May their anthems ring in your ears for eternity.'

So with that, to all the Baylor people that continue to blindly defend Art Briles, I say shame on you. And to all the Baylor fans that are patting themselves on the back and self-congratulating Baylor for “doing the right thing,” shame on you too. The right thing to do was to fire Briles last August when this dumpster fire of pure evil finally came to light. Instead, Baylor and its fans chose to defend Briles at the most disgusting levels. They screamed that this was all a conspiracy and that people were just jealous of their success. Well guess what Baylor? The only conspiracy were the sickos at your "Christian" school going to criminal lengths to cover up rape. As it appears, the Baylor Board of Regents only fired Briles because Ken Starr threatened, and still does, to go public with what the external investigation found. Starr refused to be a scapegoat, leaked that he told the regents to release the full external report, and left the regents no choice but to fire Art Briles. Just a few days ago, after getting the Pepper Hamilton external report, the regents were planning on canning Starr and doing everything they could to keep Briles. So now Baylor wants people to celebrate them for making the hard decision and “doing the right thing” after actively harboring a Rape Enabler for years? Give me a break Baylor. You didn’t chose to “do the right thing.” You were pinned into a corner and forced to."

It's ironic that there have been two situations recently where opposing fans have known almost immediately that something was rotten in Denmark - Johnny Manziel and Baylor in general - yet their fan bases couldn't or wouldn't see it. And it turned out the the opposing fans were right. If Manziel doesn't turn his life around, there will be a ESPN special about the short life of Mr. Football in the future. And none of us will be surprised if more ugliness crawls out from under a rock in Waco.

EDIT: I made the comment about Manziel before I read this:

Briles lacked morals? really? :facepalm LOL

I think the majority of America had similar thoughts about Baylor recruiting as they did with Ole Miss.

That's an amazing testimonial to the slime that Briles really is (the one from the rival Texas coach). I had a hunch he was scum just from watching their team in Norman in 2014, and that's before I started reading about the rape allegations, past and present. Oakman's cheap shot (which inexplicably went un-flagged) on Trevor Knight was the most obvious example of their lack of character, but I also got sick of watching K.D. Cannon taunting the crowd and the OU sideline, too.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the same people who still think Briles ought to be in charge of their football team are the ones who think it was okay for Kim Mulkey to not discipline a certain tall person who played basketball for her and who had the reputation for being a cheap shot artist. And Mulkey's own conduct several times certainly doesn't reflect "Christian values" that they've promoted at Baylor over the years. But she's won two national titles, so all is well.

I don't have a link handy, but I have read elsewhere that some nitwit Baylor fan wrote to the Waco newspaper and not only defended Briles to the hilt, but also said the victims were at fault for "carousing in bars," or something ridiculous like that.

Wow! That's powerful stuff.

I'll say this, however...I'd be very surprised if Briles's days on the sidelines were through. He was successful enough that he'll be given a second chance, the same way he gave second, third, and fourth chances to the rapists he recruited and harbored at Baylor.

And Baylor's hardly the only school to defend their scumbag to the hilt. They certainly won't be the last either.

Briles is 60. He's toxic for a couple more years at least. Then, who is going to hire a coach in his mid 60s who has that kind of nastiness associated with him. Maybe somebody random like North Texas or Texas-SA could hire him, but not big program is going to dip into that nonsense. Too much bad PR for not enough return.

The steroid use around his programs have been well-rumored since his Stephenville HS days. Combine that with the joke that is NCAA drug testing, and its no surprise half his team ran like track stars - until it comes to NFL time, when testing gets real.

Correct. This isn't about Briles. This is about Baylor. This is the same school that covered up when a basketball player murdered a basketball player. This is the win-at-any-cost cesspool that it takes to create a Kim Mulkey program. Briles is just the latest pawn in an on-going philosophy.

Briles is a huge part of this. It takes a person of a certain character to go along with the philospohy at baylor

I agree in the sense that it appears that a 'win at any cost' coach found his perfect school at 'win at any cost' Baylor. Combining Briles with Baylor was a recipe for disaster. It was only a matter of time.

A few years back Baylor ran a fake punt against OU. It was the same fake punt Baylor had run earlier in the season. Stoops was asked why he didn't see it coming, and Stoops said he hadn't seen the play because it wasn't in the game film provided by Baylor.

I think the Big XII reviewed the game film Baylor sent and confirmed that they had deleted the fake punt from the film it provided to other teams.

That's about as underhanded a thing coaches can do to each other. Just really weak. I used to respect Briles but everything I've heard about him since all this broke has made me sick. What a despicable human...

was there a news article on this?

I try not to rejoice in bad news for others but I must admit I do get joy from this. Briles is not a good person and Baylor fans are annoying. I hope they go back to being the doormat of the conference. Quite frankly, I wish the conference would kick them out over this.
