As reported previously Jarion Henry is on campus. He is a 6 foot 8 combo forward out of La Jolla prep (via Kimball in Dallas) and is the son of Sooner legend Skeeter Henry. Really skilled passer and ball handler for a man his size.

C.J. Cole is back for another visit, he would likely be an invited walk on if he pulls the trigger to be a Sooner. He is a 6 foot 7, hardworking post, that the first time I saw him, looked like he should've been suiting up for Hickory high in Indiana. Has a 32 on the ACT and I believe a 4.0 at Sperry high school.

OU continues to sow the seeds of the future, this time by going to a neighboring state for 2014 talent.

Clayton Custer (2014) is a 6'0 lead guard of the Kansas City area. I saw him play a few times this summer with his team (Mo-Kan), heady and tough little floor general. Saw him play the final day and a half of a tournament on a rolled ankle and was still out there getting it done. Oklahoma St and Kansas St are two schools in on him, honestly didn't even know OU was recruiting him heavily before this weekend.

Heard that Alex Robinson (2014 Kennedale, TX) was supposed to visit today but based on his twitter account won't be in.

A name that I heard this morning is 6 foot 7 Leyton Hammonds is also supposed to be in for a visit. He is a DFW based player (North Richland) and plays in the same AAU team (Dallas Mustangs) as fellow OU recruits Kendall Harris & Marcus Foster. I saw him play a few times and I liked his game, not bad athlete and was versatile. This is what I wrote about him during July.

Leyton Hammonds is an inside outside threat at 6 foot 7. The combo forward out of North Richland Hills stepped out and knocked down jumpers while also doing work in the lane. He is also effective off the bounce and can pull off the occasional creative finish.

I can't tell if the staff are more active in recruiting or your just doing so much better of a job covering recruiting than anyone else in the past.

Thanks Sam. Any idea what Jarion's interest is in OU? He seems like a great fit for our third 'ship. I'm also biased bc Skeeter is one of my all time favorite Sooners.

keep your hands off custer.

Sys, you must love these K-State Wildcats on the grid-iron. I think they are my favorite non-OU team in the country this year. They are hard not to pull for. Bill Snyder might be the best coach in college football history, and those guys are tough as nails.

i'm not a big fball fan, but i enjoyed it when they beat mu. if they beat a&m too, that'd be great.

I think it's a little of both. But more than anything, Kruger's staff seems to be focused mainly on recruiting on a regional basis, namely Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. I like this strategy much better than chasing rainsbows all over the country.

I've seen Custer play up in KC and he is a solid guard, BUT I would much rather, personally, see LK spend more time on recruiting Omega Harris for that 2014 guard

They're not an either or scenario, they're different players.

Custer is a true point right now and will be at the next level.

Harris is a combo guard right now. Earlier this year I would say he would eventually be a point but lately he's been showing off the scoring touch much more. If he grows a few more inches he without a doubt will be an explosive wing and even if he remains in the 6'2ish range he could still play off the ball.

Its much too early to making predictions on the 2014 class, but players like Custer and Harris (the top player or among the top players in KS and OK) are potential cornerstones for a Sooners backcourt down the road.

I agree and am so happy about this philosophy. There's no reason why OU cannot be a powerful team with a primarily-regional recruiting strategy.

Oh I understand that Sam. Not going to lie though, I'm really shocked to see him even showing interest in OU. All I've heard about him is that Okie State and K-State were SOOOOOO far ahead on him that no other school had a chance....

Small Henry tidbit via twitter.

Kenny Stills tweeted him this "you gotta commit lol"

Henry responded with "bro it's tempting bro it was a good visit man the team was real cool too"
