Vs. Southeastern OSU

Why didn't Iwuakor play much, looks like he scored 10 points in 6 minutes?

He played more than 6 minutes. I believe the official scorer messed up on his and Jalen's time. No way Jalen played 29 minutes

Harmon is the real deal. No OU player in recent memory could drive and finish as well as our new freshman point guard.

I was also impressed with Hill; he had a very good game and looks like he'll be a contributor. I'm not, however, ready to predict he'll replace Bieniemy in the starting lineup.

Yeah. Ill stick with Hill off the bench. JB and Harmon will be great together.

It looked like after Harmon's last and 1 he started cramping and signaling to come out. It was funny, the coaching staff just looked the other way and even when subbed some other players left him in for a bit. I'm assuming some sort of message was being sent there.

Overall, a good test and they look like they have upside if they can come together. I was hoping to see better d given their length and quickness now but that is probably a work in progress as well.

Not a bad outing for their first time out without Alex Brown!!

I think a starting backcourt of Harmon/Bieniemy/Hill would be quite effective.

I'm honestly not as impressed as you all are. Some flashes, and I know Lon was playing the long game ... but any other big 12 team is going to beat those guys by 25+. Kansas beats them by 40.

We defended terribly, let them get way too many rebounds, and didn't shoot particularly well considering they are not the biggest or most athletic team we will play this year.

We have a LONG way to go just to be competitive. A whole lot of youth, a whole lot of inexperience, and a whole lot of guys trying to find where they fit. I think we can get there -- this year -- but it's going to be very rough for a long while.

I can admit that there were some overreactions on my part during last night's scrimmage. Not saying you're referring to me.

I'm perfectly fine with whatever Lon decides in re: Jamal/Hill. It's JB's job as of right now.

I think both would be effective starting and/or as first-off-the-bench types.

The thought of JB coming in as a leader with the second unit is intriguing but I guess that is somewhat Alondes' potential role. JB might struggle to score with the starters, but I guess we'll see how it works out.

Hill is definitely impressive but that's not selling JB short. He still has a lot of potential as well.

OU subbed way more than SEOSU and didn't run near as many sets. I'm also guessing OU didn't scout nearly as hard and worked more on themselves. This is a recruiting pitch for SEOSU so they're gonna go all out, OU uses it as a warmup and experiment with a lot of different things.

I do expect OU to start out slower than the past 2 years because of the youth, but also expect them to finish stronger.

It will be a welcome sight to see an OU team finish better than they start!

I think we should cancel the season. Heck, KU should, too. They were trailing several minutes into their first exhibition game.

Kidding aside, I always love the overreaction to a tiny sample size. I remember similar posts last season because people didn't think we defended well or dominated as much as we should have in our exhibition. Lo and behold, we were a very good defensive team all season.

I think the two most legitimate questions based on personnel are whether we will have enough good shooters, and how long it will take for guys to settle in and find their roles. Reaves is the one guy we know can make a high percentage of threes while also shooting a lot of them. I think JB will be able to do that but he obviously didn't take many last season so it isn't a sure thing.

I couldn't take much of anything from the game, what I did take was..OU tends to play small (should have got the ball inside more..IMO) Dunno if it was just that game or not but they didn't shoot all that great. Now we could end up with more players that Lon can plug in and play meaningful minutes later on. At just one game dunno how anyone can say we be better or worse than last year. IMO OU must develop a inside game, their outside shot just may not be good enough..but we will see

I think that is a perfect fit for JB. Average around 7-8ppg and when he needs to he can go for 15-20 in any game. He's just so under control and never tries to force the issue, along with being maybe OU's best defender.

What is the opinion on Williams? I didn't get to watch but the box score shows he played 13 minutes and was o-fer with 1 rebound.

Barely noticeable. My hunch is he will be like most jucos. Little impact until second year.

I think he will get going. Hes a freak athlete. Practice I went to, he was the leader of the 2nd group. I think instant offense off the bench when his offense gets going.

Im not writing him off, as a 2nd year helper.

Honestly, I thought a lot of Williams from that game. He threw a nice pass that didn’t result in a basket, but from his ball handling to that nice look you can tell the ability is there. Just needs confidence.
