Warriors favorites to win the West

PG: Ray Felton/Jameer Nelson
SG: Monta Ellis/Devin Harris
SF: Chandler Parsons/Richard Jefferson
PF: Dirk Nowitizki/Charlie Villaneuva
C: Tyson Chandler/Brandon Wright

Tons of veterans on this Dallas team. They have rebounding, shooting, experience, coaching, etc... If Dirk is still playing like Dirk usually does this year I could see Dallas making some noise.

Yep. That's a lot of basketball skill and we know Carlisle gets the max out of his roster. They played the Spurs better than anyone last playoffs too.

I really like Dallas this year. Has G.S. added anything of value besides their players getting more experienced? I could see OKC at 5 but not b/c they peaked, simply b/c of the injuries. Now Morrow is out for several weeks. The first month is going to be brutal for thunder fans but once everybody gets healthy they should be better than last year. Adams is going to make strides and Morrow is an upgrade over thabo

When I say peaked I'm mainly referring to losing Harden. You just can't lose a player that good and not fall off a little. In retrospect they should have amnestied Perkins and matched Harden. Perkins + Lamb salaries this season are under $3 million less than Harden. You will rarely see 3 home run draft picks like Durant Westbrook & Harden.

Did the Adams pick come via the Harden trade? I agree he has serious upside.

Kevin MArtin for a year
Lamb
Adams
All the above for sure. I THINK Andrew Roberson and Alex Abrines as well.

I have business in Chicago this weekend which sucks because I miss my 2 year old trick or treating but the good part is I get to see the Cavs Bulls Friday.

Bounce why did Lamb not play last night? Also hurt? My goodness the Thunder can barely field a roster right now. It's really going to hurt them to lose ground on seeding. It will be very difficult to win the West if they have to win 3 series against higher seeded teams. (say if they finish 6th or something) They might as well give Westbrook the night off in Lob City

Reggie Jackson and Lamb are only out the first two games (@portland, @clips)
KD and Morrow out 6-8 more weeks
McGary out for Idk how long

At one point last night we had this lineup on the floor (early 4th quarter close game):
Telfair
Roberson
Lance THomas
Perry Jones
Perkins

LOL

Westbrook out 4-6 weeks.

Hey, maybe we can get into the lottery this year.

Doesn't matter. I bet the Thunder will play at least .500 ball while Durant & Westbrook are out. They will hit their stride around the allstar break and be jelling in time for the playoffs.

I don't know..500 ball will be tough. IF Lamb and Reggie are back in the next couple days and everyone else is healthy than I can see it.

Warriors are slaughtering people. If they stay healthy definitely the team to beat.

Thunder are going to have a really hard time making the playoffs. That would be pretty awesome if they were able to luck a late lottery finish into a high selection.

Thunder's playoff chances are getting lower and lower. You have to look at 50 wins based on past years. That's going to be a tall order.

I think that 50 wins definitely gets them in. Probably a little less than that. But yeah, assuming 50 wins they need to go 47-23 the rest of the way. Thats over 67% winning %. Last year they won 72% of games, year before that 73%, year before that 71%, year before that 67%.

Assuming that at least one of KD and westbrook will be back starting december, I see the thunder being 6-11. so they would need to go 44-21 the rest of the way...just under 67%.

That's best case scenario though. Probably won't have both of them back before xmas and might take awhile for everything to level out once they return.

One thing this shows is that the Thunder supporting cast is pretty terrible. I thought they would be a .500 club but they are the worst team in the entire West without Durant & Westbrook. Presti has pretty much done nothing. Massively overrated as a GM.

Durant & Westbrook can change to any other team in the entire league and do as well, many teams they could do a lot better.

Boca, you do realize that Durant and Westbrook weren't the only ones injured int he first month of the season right? Do you expect a GM to count on two of the top 10 players in the league getting injured at the same time when putting together a roster? The supporting cast is fine when everyone is healthy. The thunder haven't been competitive in only one game.
Here's the injuries they have dealt with.

Kevin Durant
Russell Westbrook
Perry Jones
Anthony Morrow
Andre Roberson
Jeremy Lamb
Mitch McGary
Grant Jerrett
Reggie Jackson (replacing the just injured Perry Jones)

When healthy, they will be really really good.

Last night they finally got Roberson back. So now it's really only KD, RW, and Perry Jones, and mitch mcgary but not really counting him.

BTW, perry jones just missed his 7th straight game. In the five he played in he was playing very well. averaging 15 ppg.

Here's an article that makes a decent prediction of other top teams with the injuries the THunder had at the time of the article.

I'm liking Brooks more and more. My only complaint with him this year really is that he still isn't forcing Ibaka to play inside
