We found our backup pg of the future today!

Good news because I don't have a good feeling about getting a quality PG recruit in the late signing period.

Just make sure we get one next November.

What Blair does wrong complete and justifiably overshawdows what little he does right. Newell (a 2 guard) plays the point better than Blair. I have been saying it for some time with nothing but disgust from this board (with the exception of Big Old Booger and a few others). You honestly can't say that Blair runs the point more efficiently than Newell, right? You honestly can't say that Blair plays better defense than Newell, right?

yes i can. well i guess it depends on what you want in a point guard.

Newell is a better point prospect than Blair based on what?Blair has better a/to ratio, outshoots Newll from the field, outshoots him from the line.In what universe is Newell a better pg? The only area the two are close is in 3pt shooting which is nearly identical. Capel has said on more than one occassion that Newell is proably a better two guard but Newll is the best PG option when Blair is out.

We need much better PG play next year to improve wether that is Blair or someone else. Then again the same can be said of rebounding, defense at every position.

Exactly. The offense runs better through Newell, which is sad. You can disagree with that assessment, but I know basketball. You can disagree with that assessment too.

Newell is definitely a 2 guard. He doesn't handle the ball like a true point guard, but from watching every game this year, Newell is better than Blair at the point. I don't give a sh*t about the stats people keep throwing out. It is immaterial. You can't compare the two stat-wise because they haven't played the same amount of minutes.

Regardless, even if you can make the argument that they are the same running the point (offensively), Newell is CLEARLY the better defender.

If Blair critiques his TOs which he most certainly can...than theres no way that Newell is a better PG option. I'm glad that Neal and Newell are progressing as players where they are getting more playing time...It makes the future look a lil bit brighter than just when we were limited to 5 guys. Now we have 8 guys who are seeing the floor b/c they are progressing as players and as valuable options rather than to just give a starter a breather for a few minutes.
