Exactly as it should be. Shows the respect this OU team is receiving on a national scale. Well deserving, too!

Thanks for the weekly poll updates, Boulder!

And we're a #1 seed in the new Bracketology.

OU #1 in OKC
KU #1 in Des Moines
ISU, WVU both #4s in Denver
Baylor #8 in Des Moines
Tech #8 in Brooklyn
Texas #10 play-in game in St. Louis

I still don't understand the formula in which a team can have one less loss than a team it beats by 20+ on a neutral court, but somehow is 3 spots behind the team they smoked. This is only important because it could be the difference between playing in Louisville or being shipped to California

We are #2 in the coaches poll by the very slimmest of margins -- we lead #3 Maryland by a single point.

I don't get it either. It seems like the RPI has a Big East bias built in somehow, considering Vill beat two ranked Big East teams, Xavier and Butler, but lost to OU and UVA.

Regardless, if OU gets put in the Louisville regional instead of Anaheim, would that mean we'd probably play in Des Moines or Denver in the first round instead of OKC, or are the regions and regional locations independent of the first round locations?

the pods (2 pods per first round site) have no link to the regional sites ..

so an Anaheim pod and a Louisville pod could both play first round games in okc

It is very odd. It is hard for me to really understand. About the only distinctions I see in the teams other than head to head (OU's favor) and top 25 (OU's favor - OU 2-1, Villanova 1-2) is Villanova is 4-2 against RPI top 50 while OU is 2-1. But then Villanova has played five teams outside of the top 150 compared to OU only playing 3.

Regardless, once the season is over if both teams are close, I would think the RPI would favor OU. After the top two spots (where the Big East is 1 and 2 compared to Big XII at 3 and 4), the Big XII has better rankings (at every spot) and some of them are notable. The average RPI for Big XII teams is 51.6 and for Big East teams it is 73.2. The really big difference is in the 4th place through 8th place spots. The Big XII's lowest team in that part of the conference is 60 while the Big East's highest ranking is 41 and lowest is 102.

My assumption is these RPI's for the conference won't change a whole lot now that conference play has begun. I am speculating that one team may move up and another down but the overall conference ranking will stay fairly consistent.

They are independent of each other

Basketball in this conference is the complete opposite of football. So much more respect given. And I really think deserved.
