Football has always been king at OU, but one could never make the mistake of calling OU a "football only school" because our basketball program has been so successful. If I'm not mistaken, I think we have the most tourney appearances or wins for any program without a title. I used to always take pity on schools like LSU, Alabama, Florida State, etc. because when football season ended, sports basically ended for fans of those schools. All those idiots had to talk about was recruiting or spring football. OU, on the other hand, was a more athletically diverse school. Under Kelvin Sampson, we had a basketball program that would sometimes overshadow recruiting and spring football because we were in the midst of a great season. Unfortunately, those days are gone now. Add us to the list of football schools whose fans have nothing to watch between January and April. These are the new lows to which we've sunk under Jeff Capel.
We're exclusively a football school now.
