West Linn's Payton Pritchard as good as the hype

23points, 7 assists tonight in their quarterfinal win.

His stat line says it all:

23 points on 9-for-17 shooting -- 5 for 9 from 3-point range -- to go with seven assists, five rebounds and two steals, with only one turnover in 28 minutes.

Pritchard is a true point guard. But any kid who can shoot from deep the way he does could swing to the two if need be. He's also the number one player in the state this season. OU is definitely getting a good one!

I can't wait. Even though Woodard will be a senior, will Pritchard start from day 1 (maybe at a wing)? Keeping in mind it will be Booker's senior year, and James/Odomes/Buford will be sophomores. The important thing is he will probably be in the main rotation so it doesn't really matter if he starts.

He's going to be a good one.

I'm really excited about this kid and this class! I think landing him so early will really help us recruiting some of these others as well.

Ada didn't you post something about him recruiting a big to join him in CC?

I dont see him starting his Frosh year. Thats a small backcourt for LK. He'll start for woodard as a soph.

I don't think he starts freshman year either but can you imagine him off the bench at the point instead of a guy like walker? (No disrespect intended he seems like a quality kid who works hard)

walker hasn't been the back up point guard this year .. (in 2015 )

I don't think there is any doubt that Payton will start as a sophomore. But, I wouldn't count him out as a starter his freshman season either. If he's as good as advertised, how do you keep a kid like him on the bench?

As I said earlier, he could swing to the two if need be. With his ability to knock down shots from the perimeter (5 of 9 from three is impressive), I think he has the potential to at least play starter minutes. We already know two things about LK: He will not hesitate to start a freshman. Making shots from the perimeter and/or being able to create shots off of the dribble are very important in his offense. Pritchard is able to do both.

True, he'll have plenty of competition from the projected players on our roster his first season. But, if you buy into the idea that a top forty recruit (top 10 PG and the #1 player in Oregon) is a special talent, there is no way you can rule him out as a starter.

Yes, the kid you're talking about is Joey Brunk, a 6' 9" 210 center out of Indianapolis. He's a four star recruit, ranked by Scout as the #17 center in the country and the #2 player in the state of Indiana. I haven't seen anything since then, so I don't have any idea where OU stands with Brunk right now?

Even if we don't get Brunk, I think having a point guard like Pritchard on our roster will attract bigs and wings like magnets. It's a known fact that front court players want to play with a point guard who is good at distributing the ball.

the best thing about the talent kruger is putting together competition breeds success and every starting spot is going to be won not given

Well said, Boulder!

I think the days of plugging in a missing piece in desperation will be few and far between in the years to come. That's not to suggest that our coaches won't get caught with their pants down if a player leaves unexpectedly from time to time. But, the solid foundation LK and his staff are developing now, particularly this season and next, makes the future look brighter than it has been in the last six years.

200pts. 7reb 7ast in semis win.

3rd straight title game. Won previous 2!
